I answered this question on Y!A. Copypasta time!
1. The Spanish converted Aztecs to Christianity by force. Saying "I believe" because you'll get killed if you don't is very different from saying "I believe" because you actually believe. Surely you recognize that.
2. How are you so sure 50 human sacrifices were made every day? I have never seen these figures--you'll have to show me where you got this, or I'm not inclined to believe it. Even if it's true, the Spanish still killed a lot more Aztecs than would have been sacrificed. They deliberately spread diseases among the natives through such means as smallpox-infected blankets. Within 50 years, the Aztec population had dwindled to 10% of its size at the time the Spanish had arrived.
3. The Spanish stole gold from the natives, and in most cases worked them to death to mine more gold. Sounds like kind of a raw deal for the natives.
4. The Mayan civilization may have vanished before the Spanish came, but not the Incas. The Aztecs lived in what is now Mexico. The Incas lived in the Andes, in South America. Their empires never even overlapped. The Spanish conquered both Aztecs and Incas. Learn your history.

How is it possibly good when one culture almost completly wipes out another, all in the name of religion?
My son just did a project on the Aztec, they had 18 festivals per year and 1 human sacrifice per festival. I agree that is 18/yr too many, but I think the Spanish Christians killed many many more is a shorter amount of time.

While I don't agree with human sacriface, that did not make it alright for the Spanish to come in and slaughter the Aztecs and turn them into slaves.
Make no mistake, the Spanish Conquest of South America was only benifical to the Spanish. The Aztecs where destroyed by it.

Once again, because slaughtering and enslaving a native people is never good. Treating those that survived the attempted genocide as second class citizens is never good. How would you feel if Scientologists invaded your homeland and told you to give them all you wealth and the convert to Scientology or die? Would that be ok? So as long as you convert someone, it's totally okay to murder them (as long as it's through non-sacrificial means), pillage their natural resources and deny them self-governance for centuries.

The Conquistadors cared not a whit about the Aztecs religious practices. The only wanted the gold, to the point the Aztecs called them "The Eaters of Gold".
And no, the Aztecs did NOT kill 50 people a day, or there wouldn't have been anyone left for the Spaniards to murder.
