Why does the most powerful country in the world have the most stupid political problems? I mean seriously, American politics is jsut beyond stupidity, in Australia you don't hear every 5 seconds that if you vote for some guy, you're going to burn in hell, or so and so is antichrist or you're unAustralian if you vote for this guy!

Seriously, they are a bit quieter here, but the Catholic Archbishop of Australia, parties like Family First, and groups like Hillsong are espousing the same kinds of crap.

I grew up in a largely RC Italian immigrant town in NY on the Hudson River. When I was 16 & 17 in the late 70's, I knew a few good catholic girls that had abortions then got on the bus to Washington, DC each January (with their parents) to protest the Roe vs Wade decision. This trip was sponsored by our church.
As usual it proves that religion is hypocritical. You can be holier than thou as long as it doesn't affect you personally. When it does hit home, then they are glad that the "liberals" have a back up plan to get them out of their mess.
Actually, they will realize you're an idiot, and McSame will fuck us over, and -- with that knowledge -- will vote for Obama.

accuse Dmocrats of beiong ungodly, and say no true Xian (TM) can be a Democrat, and you may persuade at least some floaters, or simple-minded to vote Republican instead.
If you can get a priest to do it, all the better!

Of course every pope also is against divorces and contraception via pill or condomes, therefore you will find only few true catholics out there, as only few catholics fully obey their shepherd in this ;)

While Catholics in my former diocese were encouraged to vote pro-life, they were never threatened with hellfire for voting for a pro-choice Democrat instead. What a douchebag.

Massachusetts and Rhode Island have some of the highest concentrations of Catholics anywhere in the US, with huge numbers of Irish, Italians, Poles, and French-Canadians. These two states are also about the bluest states there are. Democrats almost always control both legislatures and most governors (Bill Weld and Mitt Romney were anomolies), and are certain victories for Barack Obama. Are you going to excommunicate millions of Catholics because they won't vote your way?
