I know he's over the top, but I too am slightly worried thinking about it... I mean... Back in the 20's and earlier homosexuality was severely wrong, like up there with pedophilia, but now, its alright, so does that mean someday pedophilia is going to be considered alright by society eventually (again, in some sense).

Only if as a society we decide (say) 10 year-olds are capable of responsibly deciding for themselves whether and with who to have sex. Even today, different countries, even different states of the US, have different laws about what age you can legally start having sex (In Spain it's 13, in Madagascar it's 21 (IIRC)).
As long as we are guided by "informed consent" and as long as we are careful to ensure that in all cases it really is both genuinely consent and genuinely informed, then the law will act to prevent abuse without interfering in people's private lives.
Can we really expect more?
