The atheists that I've met have a lot of hate....starting first with self-hate and it snow balls from there.

Yeah, and you do your best to make sure atheists, or even a bright kid in your Sunday School with a couple questions, hate themselves.
"The atheists that I've met have a lot of hate...."
Yes we hate gays, lesbians, liberals, Communists, Muslims, Jews, agnostics...oh wait that's CHRISTIANITY, sorry my bad...
"starting first with self-hate and it snow balls from there."
I don't hate myself, just idiots like you.
A lot of people hate things.
I hate stupidity and I hate insects.
There would be something horrifically wrong with me if I didn't hate anything. A hormonal imbalance, perhaps.
Well, I have to admit, I've met more militant atheists in my time than even keeled ones... of course, I've also been told off by several Wiccans, a Native American Piper, and at least a dozen or so Christians of various denominations for saying "let's all be friends", so in reality, I'm more inclined to believe that dogmatic adherence to any ONE philosophy can make you a asshole, not just adherence to a specific one.
So instead of a fail here, I'll give it a Pot meet Kettle award.
I am not an atheist. I know fewer atheists preaching hatred for their fellow man than I know fundie Christians preaching hate. Rapture Ready with their arrogance, self-righteousness, bigotry toward other religions and non-fundie Christians, constant lying about those who disagree with them, and their open "shilling" for the Republican Party on a "supposedly" religious forum, are perfect examples of this.
I can say the exact same thing about christians. I have yet to meet one that isn't full of hatred, loathing, unkindness, unsympathetic, unmerciful, bigoted, and self-righteous. And I live in the bible belt, so I have LOTS to choose from.
Religious fundamentalists hate everything and everyone.
When I still believed in god, as a catholic, I really went through a LOT of self-hate, because I was so sure that god hated me, in allowing my childhood to happen the way that it did. It took therapy and atheism for me to realize that god in all probability doesn't exist and that I have no reason to hate myself.
Right now, the only thing that I actually really hate, is religion, for being so fucking bogus and yet having trapped so many people.
Yeah, it's true! I do hate myself. See these cuts? I was chopping celery, but that's another story.
Where was I? Oh yeah. Richard Feynman rules!
A stupid insect :
You made my night :D
That's weird...
When I was Christian, I used to hate myself because I thought I wasn't good enough in the eyes of god or whatever. It was only when I discarded my faith that I realized it is okay for me to be who I am and that I don't need to tie myself down with glorified fairytales. If religion works for you, fine. But you need to understand that it doesn't work for everyone.
Actually I have quite a high opinion of myself.
It's the fundies who are obsessed with impure thoughts, and sin, and imperfection.

You haven't met very many atheists.
Some of the most hatefilled people I've met were christians.
Fundie Christianity makes more people hate themselves than atheism ever could. Same for Fundie Islam. I gave Catholicism, albeit rather liberal Catholicism, several years ago and I've never felt more comfortable with myself.
Abe,I dont hate you ,man,I just think your a fucking idiot.Peace,my brother!
Somehow I get the feeling you're stretching the truth, but on the off chance that you're right, I'm willing to bet that the reason they seem hateful is probably because of all the hate THEY have had to endure from religious folk.
What's funny is, I only hated myself when I was Christian. I kept thinking that I was nothing more than a useless sinner, going to Hell, God wants me punished, and blah, blah, blah.
I'm not exactly an Atheist though, but closer to that than Christianity. Never been happier. :)
Confused?
