Quote# 54025

There is nothing wrong with enjoying speculative fiction as long as you know it is fiction and treat it as such. So what I am trying to say is that it is not the story that is wrong so much as it is the person who is unable to discern that it is fiction.

The discovery channel recently ran a program on the "Vrill". It was a life force described in a science fiction novel that developed a cult following and became one of the major influences in the belief system of Adolph Hitler. So you see what started out as a simple work of fiction was, at least in part, responsible for the worst assault on humanity by evil forces in modern history, ie; the holocaust.

In it's day the "Vrill" had as much of a cult following as L. Ron Hubbard's "Dianetics" that was the start of the Scientology movement of today. The ideas put forth in Dianetics started out as parts of Hubbard's science fiction works and became the foundation of the false religeon of Scientology when L. Ron Hubbard started believing his own twisted public relations and turned it into a theology for fools to follow.

Make no mistake, there are way too many fools in the world and they will follow anything they are taught with enough conviction and fervor. It doesn't even have to have self consistancy. Satan is capable of clouding the vision of people who don't seek the truth of the bible and that is who the real enemy is.

a mind far far away

With that first paragraph, he should really apply that to the bible. It's nothing but fiction, but fundies still think that it's literal truth. Which is why they have such a hard time discerning truth from fiction, and warn their followers to stay away from fiction stories.
The second paragraph is nothing but the breaking of Godwin's law. It wasn't so much Hitler that believed in the occult, as Himmler, who applied occult teachings to the Aryan philosophy.
The third paragraph; I'm not sure where he's going with Scientology, other than the whole sci-fi fiction thing. It's probably the only religion that is more fucked up than christianity.
With the fourth paragraph, especially the first sentence, like the first, he should apply that to christianity and the bible. The second sentence says it all about the bible.

So all in all, this post resembles christianity as much as it does any other religion or fiction. They're just too fucking stupid to see it. If they applied the same techniques and teachings on their own religion as they do others, then they'd see just how insane they are.

Edit:
@Thinking Allowed: I lol'd. I have a few button down shirts that need ironied too, as well as some holy drawers that they should probably have me send to them.

Make no mistake, there are way too many fools in the world and they will follow anything they are taught with enough conviction and fervor.

Like the ones who were taught that the bible is literal true?

Yes! Yes! Just one more step to enlightenment...

Satan is capable of clouding the vision of people who don't seek the truth of the bible and that is who the real enemy is.

Aaaaand we're right back to square one.

i will never understand how they can be so insightful about others beliefs, but be completely blind to the fact that the same logic applies to their own. it's mindboggling.

I'm sure the irony of this is lost on yogi and other RR posters.

P.S. I am aware that everyone has pointed out the irony here but I'm too tired to come up with anything original.

{i}Waaay[/i] too easy. But I agree with the jerk as far as dianetics and scientology are concerned. If only he could see beyond his own nose. In truth, scientology is no more crazy than christianity.

As for Adolf (sp) Hitler's 'belief system', I'd like a source on that. Or no, maybe I wouldn't, because madness is madness, and I can't be arsed to go back in time.
