Your sister-in-law is giving the classic excuse for those who don't like to discuss the rapture at all because it makes them scared or uneasy and puts the shift of that discomfort back onto you. We aren't giving up on this life. We just read the end of the Book and know how it all turns out. We've watched and prayed for Jesus' return as we were instructed to. We know the signs of His return and have discerned them to know that He is returning very soon. We aren't giving up on this life, we're just looking forward to the next one. It's like a child who anticipates Christmas. We don't damper their spirit by saying they shouldn't think about it and to live for today. It's fun to look forward to something wonderful! And, not to mention, we are instructed to be as little children...
