Quote# 59406

Your question at the end begs the answer that God is a cruel taskmaster who takes pleasure in crushing the defenseless humans for enjoyment.

...and so it probably does to everyone who has a flawed picture of what God's true nature is like.

We are the ones who wronged him. Any rights we had when he created us are forfeit. If he chose to send everyone to hell, then we would only be getting what we rightfully deserved.

However, that's not what he did. He sent his one and only, perfect, son to die a humiliating death, which pays the price for all the wrongs we ever did against Him. He only asks one thing in return in order to receive his mercy and free gift, and that is to take him at his word.

So, to that I say; Yes, God is good. He is so good, as a matter of fact, that it is beyond our wildest imagination. The sum of his goodness is way beyond any human's comprehension, which is why people pose questions like this to begin with.

We have one choice. Trust him and take him at his word, or not. Our choice has zero bearing on whether or not he actually exists, what his character is like, and what rules he has laid down for his creations.

?!?!

I choose not. I wouldn't worship him if I found out he did exist.

IF your gawd exists then he knew this would happen. Thus he's a dick.

It sounds to me by your own description, he's malevolent, easy to make jealous, and likes toying with lives. Also, punishing the children of those that did someone wrong is a very petty thing to do.

Well, if the bible were literal true and god had done everything written therein, my morality and sense for goodness would force me to oppose god.
God in its form in the bible is like a megalomaniac ruler of a large country, who puts people into concentration camps (or kills them outright) while at the same time successfully convincing them, that itis their own fault that they get killed/put into a concentration camp.

What the hell did I do to him? I tried to do the old trust exercises with him, never worked.

And after listening to this tirade, how is saying were animals demeaning?

LOL, this guy hates himself, and wants everyone else to hate themselves too.

So, our rights are forfeit because an imaginary ancestor ate an imaginary fruit?

And this is a "good" punishment for the crime?

I wonder if I can hold fracturedInfinity responsible for something his great grandparents did...

a) I personally didn't wrong him so why should I be punished.

b) Wronging somebody doesn't mean your rights are forfeit. My children sometimes 'wrong' me in little ways, (you know maybe eating something they were told not to eat, major stuff like that), and we deal with it and move on - they still have all their rights. Because rights are automatic, they're not given conditionally. If I said I wasn't going to feed or clothe or shelter or educate my children any more because they had wronged me, I'd say Social Services would have something to say about that.

c) Lots more, but I'm bored with this stupidity.

You're god is not good; he is a poorly constructed fictional character created up by violent, primitive and bigoted men. It's time to accept that and move on with your life.

This. A thousand times this.

If God loves us [this :) much], why bother to create earth, or for that matter, anything physical at all? Why not just make us little glowing balls of pure pleasure basking in love for all eternity? That's right: because God's not there!

And in the highly unlikely event that there is a God who behaves anything like you say He does, He can take a big old suck on my pecker.

I believe that evil was created to contrast good, how would we live if we didn't know we would die?

I know most atheists would disagree suggesting good and evil are really perceptive and not set conditions, but I believe there is a deeper, ultimate truth in good and evil.

Assuming you funtards were right as in "god exists and he is an asshole" i still wouldn't worship him. Why? Precisely because of what he is. He's a tyrant that nobody put in charge whose only legitimation is his own power, and i don't acept that kind of guy as a leader. It'd be like accepting Mussolini, Stalin, Mao or Hitler (Yeah, i know, Godwin) and that's not really my thing.

Do you numbnuts ever listen to yourselves? I'm supposed to trust someone who might not even exist? That goes for an infinite number of potential gods! And you think the only choice possible is one regarding belief in your god? How far up your ultratight ass can your enormous head be shoved?
