the defination of a patriot is someone who will defend his/her country against all enemies, EVEN ITS OWN GOVERNMENT.
And yet for the past 8 years I've had to listen to people like you attack anyone who would dare to disagree with, much less speak out against, the president that happened to belong to your party.
I've seen the hatred and venom spewed out at those who took what you now call a "patriotic" stance in opposition of the then current governments policies, I've seen you call them "traitor" and "terrorist", I've seen you cry for their imprisonment without trial or due process, and I've seen you call for their death.
A patriot defends the country from all enemies, foreign and domestic, at all times, not just when the opposition is in power. Don't tell me what a patriot is, I've lived it in the good times and the bad, regardless of what party that held the executive.
IF STATES WERE TO LEAVE THE CURRENT UNION TO ADOPT THE IDEALS THAT FOUNDED THIS NATION, I WOULD GO THERE!
I don't think that you know what the ideals that founded this nation are.
this country is no longer a nation of the people, by the people, and for the people. it has ceased to be a theocracy and has become something akin to a socialist government.
The US hasn't "ceased to be" a theocracy, because it never was, a nation of the people, by the people, and for the people can never, ever be a theocracy. Also, I do not believe you have even the slightest idea just exactly what the word "socialist" means.
I whole heartedly agree, this nation needs a change of guard
It's funny that I only hear you say that now that your party of choice has lost both houses of congress and the presidency. Being a partiot doesn't mean standing up and speaking truth to power only to your opposition party, It means standing up and taking a position when the government is wrong.
Where were you when the Bush Administration said it was okay to kidnap people from anywhere in the world and hold them without charge indefinetly? Where were you when torture suddenly became not only okay, but US policy? Where were you when the men and women who volunteered to serve the people were lied into a needless war not of their making? Where were you when they were stabbed in the back? Did you stand up? Did you stand up and say "No! This cannot stand. This is not the will of the american people, and this is not right."? Or did you label those who did as traitors?
