[on an atheist defending Catholics]
You defend them, because you're an unbeliever, and catholics are unbelievers. The world loves its own.

We apologize for this break in reality. Normal service will be restored as soon as possible.
"I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds; God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God; begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made."
That was written by the Catholic Church in 325 AD. What exactly is it that Catholics not supposed to believe?
I was raised a Catholic in a very high-Catholic populated area. Like every other society there are good and bad Catholics. Most of the Catholics I've known live a more Christ-like life (kindness, generosity, respect for your fellow human being) than most of you christian who arrogantly declare that you have a front row ticket to heaven just because you are "saved".
But yes, Catholics believe in God and Christ and Salvation.
And I'll take being raised Catholic over being raised Evangelical any day.
No, wait... what?
Catholics are some of the biggest believers in the world. Between the trinity, Mary, and all the saints, the only religion that has more entities to pray to is Hindu.
I really do wish these guys would leave this world altogether. Other fundies too. Far far far away from here. My only fear though is if they colonised another planet they wouldn't give a crap about any other civilisation.
(Then again if we were spacefaring I wouldn't be here either xD).
"My fringe cult is the only true faith!"
Also, I love it when fundies turn Y!A into their personal pulpit.
You defend them
Because god forbid that you might defend a fellow christian who's beliefs are not the exact same as yours, That's outright heresey for you isn't it?
because you're an unbeliever
And damn proud of it.
and catholics are unbelievers
I'm sorry but you don't get to decide whether or not someone else believes in a "god" or any other damn thing. That isn't your decision to make.
I think i've figure out the whole fundie protestant hatred of catholics. I keep hearing about how catholics are evil because they believe in the "false" doctrine of faith and good works, whereas you claim it's by faith alone. The way I see it the whole thing comes down to the fact that the fundie wants to feel righteous, that they are better than the "unsaved" masses, but they don't want to have to do any actual "works" on behalf of people who might not believe the same thing as they do, and thus be tainted by doing so.
The world loves its own.
Are you so self righteously deluded that you actually believe that you and your fellow whack jobs are somehow magically "apart" from the world? The whole "In the world, but not a part of it " bullshit is just another way for you fundies to stroke you already oversized egos and make yourselves feel that you are somehow better than the great unsaved masses.
Even though there's no god and never has been, still, we unbelievers, using our own initiative, sometimes have to defend fundies even though fundies are not Christians but are some sort of weird barbarian cultists. Note, gods don't come into it, we just know the right things to do, all by our little selves.
I humbly submit that you are a savage simpleton. (I'm not defending you here as you can see).
If you're going to say that Catholics are Christians, it's like calling white people black just because they come from the same common root. Catholics are more likely to be nice people, but that's because of a string of thousands of contradictions from the Bible. They're scared of Hell when they shouldn't be. The best Christians are the ones who realise that Christ, and not your own good actions, are the route to salvation, but are nice people just for the heck of it or making your religion look good.
Catholics are Christians. They just tend to be cool about it and don't throw around the "Christian" label like it gives them special rights or status like most Christian fundies do. Plus, and this is the good thing, Catholics believe that you not only have to have faith in Jesus, but you also have to do good works to get into Heaven.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
