700 Club Viewer: Why [do] evangelical Christians tell non-Christians that Jesus (God) is the only way to Heaven? Those who are Hindu, Buddhist, Islamic, etc. already know and have a relationship with God. Why is this? It seems disrespectful.

Robertson: No. They don’t have a relationship. There is the god of the Bible, who is Jehovah. When you see L-O-R-D in caps, that is the name. It’s not Allah, it’s not Brahma, it’s not Shiva, it’s not Vishnu, it’s not Buddha. It is Jehovah God. They don’t have a relationship with him. He is the God of all Gods. These others are mostly demonic powers. Sure they’re demons. There are many demons in the world.

How would we define demonic?

Would a loving god or a demon demand from you to (under certain circumstances) kill your relatives?
"If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers;" (Deuteronomy 13:6)
"Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him: But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people." (Deuteronomy 13:8-9)

Who would order his followers to commit genocides? A (just) god or a demon?
"And Israel joined himself unto Baalpeor: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel. And the LORD said unto Moses, 'Take all the heads of the people and hang them up before the LORD against the sun, that the fierce anger of the LORD may be turned away from Israel.'" (Numbers 25:3-4)
"Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt. Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass." (I Samuel 15:2-3)

Would demons be the bringers of peace or of war? (I would suspect the latter)
"The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name." (Exodus, 15:3)

Is it a sign of demonic powers to send out evil spirits?
"And the evil spirit from the LORD was upon Saul, as he sat in his house with his javelin in his hand: and David played with his hand."
(I Samuel 19:9)

I must say, your rambling, completely unsupported and close minded argument has thoroughly convinced me.

Yet, if any one of those religions were to say anything that might hint of a contradiction of your theology, Pat, you'd jump on their back for "anti-Christian bigotry" like a rabid baboon faster than you could say "JESUS SAVES!"

I love how these people love to lord the superiority of their stupid religious phantasms over the equally absurd religious phantasms of others. It's like watching kindergarteners argue about whose imaginary friend is better. The only thing is, the Christians want to have exclusive rights to trash Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and others; but recoil with terror, offense, and outrage when anyone questions their religion. That's OFFENSIVE.

Wow, way to endear yourself to all non-Christians out there. Way to win converts too. I can't wait to convert to a religion that wants to condemn people to everlasting pain for something so arbitrary as choosing the wrong religion rather than based on whether or not they were actually good or bad people.

"Seems disrespectful"? That was nice of you, 700 Club Viewer, to use the word "seems". Of course, you got an answer that was just plain outright disrepectful and didn't even acknowledge you're complaint about it "seems disrespectful."

But you also call him God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit/Ghost. In the last sentence you called him Jehovah. What about Elohim and Adonai? And doesn't the Bible give him the name YHWH? You Christians* and you're Bible refer to your God in a number of different ways.

Fun fact, did you know that Arab Chrisitans refer to God as Allah. Are Arab Christians going to hell too because they happen to speak the wrong language?

Also, many Buddhists are atheists. Not all, but some are. So get your facts straight.

However, I give him credit for being able to name Brahma, Shiva, and Vishnu. A lot of fundies wouldn't be able to get that far.

*I would like to apologize to all sane Christians out there. I'd hate to have to share a religion with this guy.

Most major religions are virtually identical to eachother in principle and customs, and their followers share the annoying habit of being extremely selective about which principles are the true ones.

Rather than continually argue the true name of your God (which according to some would actually destroy the universe if spoken) how about just living with your chosen virtues and avoiding being a dick. Then when you meet your maker, you can be judged on that.

Seriously, if you can be damned for being a good person and following a strict code of conduct with daily prayers but you just happened to get the name wrong would that not strike you as malicious egomania?
