As previously posted, billboards proclaiming "Birth Control is HARMFUL" have been placed around the diocese of Tulsa, OK.
The signs are a response to Planned Parenthood's "Birth control is Easy" billboards. KOTV covers this story in an online article.
We really like the idea of this billboard project - so much we are going to launch our own separate and secular version in 2007.
Imagine the nation peppered with signs stating "Birth control is harmful" or "Contraception is harmful". In addition to this simple message, the billboards will list a web address for further information -- most likely the website www.BirthControlIsHarmful.com (go ahead and take a peek).
We hope the folks in Tulsa inspire other organizations to confront the contraceptive mentality in creative ways. They certainly inspired us... Stay tuned to ContraceptionBlog.com for more details..

Imagine the nation peppered with signs stating "Birth control is harmful" or "Contraception is harmful".
Imagine hundreds, thousands...nay, millions of people stopping, scratching their heads and wondering aloud, "What the fuckity fuck??" Then imagine them all going about their daily lives, pausing from time to time to chuckle over the idiocy of fundies.
We hope the folks in Tulsa inspire other organizations to confront the contraceptive mentality in creative ways.
Someone explain to me how doing exactly the same stupid, crude, childish things you've been doing for fucking millennia, which basically consist of nothing but temper tantrums and crude attempts to forcibly silence or drown out any opposition, counts as being "creative."
I just like seeing people counter-troll Planned Parenthood.
Remember, Margaret Sanger said that black people are weeds!
"the diocese of Tulsa, OK"
Now, how did I just KNOW that this would be the Catholics' doing?
Imagine the nation peppered with signs stating "Mind control is harmful" or "Religion is harmful". In addition to this simple message, the billboards will list a web address for further information -- most likely the website www.mindcntrolIsHarmful.com (go ahead and take a peek).

Fixed!
I propose the following billboards: "Run With Scissors", "Seatbelts Chafe Your Neck", and "The Heimlich Maneuver is Sexual Harassment".
@Ian C: Because every sperm is sacred, every sperm is great. If a sperm is wasted, God gets quite irate.
Meh. Technically any type of medication is harmful. Everything has side effects. The fact is that the risks associate with birth control are drastically less they risks associated with pregnancies. Add to that the fact that many forms of birth control also prevent STDs and well, this billboard is just plain delusional.
When are you idiots going to admit that it's not about life, it's about you hating people who have sex for reasons OTHER THAN procreation. You're all a bunch of prudes.
Oh yeah Catholics, that's what they believe anyway.
ETA:
Burning Stake says:
Why the hell would they oppose a campaign by Planned Parenthood to PREVENT abortions?! Why?!
Because it kills babies* (i.e., in case a woman is already pregnant), something like what happened to Michelle Duggar and why she wanted to "atone" for it by having as many kids as possible. At least, it's something like that: she was on birth control, got off it/wanted to get off, had a miscarriage, and now apparently feels so guilty that she refuses to take it.
At least, they think it kills babies; which it wouldn't if you learned how to take it properly!
*I don't think of a blastocyst as a baby, but they do.
"We really like the idea of this billboard project - so much we are going to launch our own separate and secular version in 2007"
What secular justification is there for saying that contraception is harmful? I'm waiting...
1.) Any medication can be harmful - hell we've never done a good job figuring out the proper dosage on BPC/similar, but that's because we are a male based medical society.
2.) Yes, there is a small possibility you can develop a latex allergy.
3.) Pregnancy is full of complications, too many to list here - especially if you don't receive proper care. (Ask my friend's idiot "wife" who starved herself and didn't tell him until 2 weeks before his daughter popped out. RC guilt and he married her.)
Choose your harmful carefully.
Why yes, of course, birth control is harmful! It kills innocent, helpless spermatozoa!
That is, of course, totally ignoring the fact that abstinence does the very same thing. And even unprotected sex.
Don't they know anything? Spermatozoa die every day inside the men's testicles. Even sex that results in pregnancy only saves one of the millions of them per baby, since one spermatozoon can only ever fertilize one egg cell, all the others die. There is and never will be the slightest justification for claiming that birth control is harmful. It is complete and utter bullshit!
Giving birth is harmful too. More women must have died of childbirth, than of contraceptives, right?
Isn't it heplful to your cause if your statements are, say, substantiated?
How about this one: "Overpopulation is harmful"
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
