And with that way of thinking (especially when Islam once illuminated the world, as our own Mister Spak will testify to you, with great advances in the fields of astronomy, medicine, and especially mathematics; Algebra is a Muslim invention, after all), your kind of extreme beliefs - particularly Wahhabiism - in the coming decades & centuries will be like, to quote Roy Batty, in "Blade Runner":

It'd be a great comedy sketch to have a fundie X-ian and fundie Muslim with verses they're taking into Kinkos to copy walk around a corner and bump into each other, commingling their pages ... kind of like the old Reeses Cup commercials.
Fundie 1: "You've got your Koran in my Bible."
Fundie 2: "You've got your Bible in my Koran."
Then as they frantically try to sort out the different pages.
Fundie 1: (Reading some Muslim scripture) "Hey, some of this sounds pretty good."
Fundie 2: Yes, I am also liking some parts of your book very much."
Fundie 1: "You know, we're not so different after all."
Fundie 2: "No, not different indeed. Want to go stone some fags?"

accepting creationism, fine. it's a possible theory and no one was around to disprove it or prove it's opposing theory of darwinism. so i'll let that one go. but some of the other things said...

completely contradicting a scientific fact that was physically proven? and ever though of the possibility integrating religion with science? like the idea that maybe God created the water molecules that became water vapor and rain? no? didn't think so.

admittedly, i am not well-versed in the Qu'ran, so I don't know what it really says. But if it claims that the world is flat and not a sphere, it's rejecting a basic scientific proof. Don't believe it? I hear they are planning to allow citizens into space soon. You can see it for yourself. Or else get yourself a PhD in science and then try to prove to us how the earth is really flat but gives the illusion of being spherical. Or how times of day and seasons work.

The ancient Greeks not only proved the world was round, but estimated the circumference of the earth fairly accurately in the 3rd Century BC.

And to think Islamic scientists used to be the best in the world. This man's ancestors would be spinning in their graves.

You know, when someone starts claiming the world is flat I'd normally wonder if they'd been reading too much Discworld (assuming that you can read to much Discworld. I'm not sure it's possible.) Im this case, I wonder if he's ever picked up a book other than the Qur'an in his life. Because, you know, reading sometimes requires this thing we sane people like to know as "thinking." For some reason, I doubt thinking is something Mr. Yusuf does very often.

So instead of asking if he's been reading too much Discworld lately, I just want to whack him over the head with my copy of Small Gods.

Not that I would, because I don't think whacking people upside the head would solve anything and because I believe that you shouldn't hurt other people. Besides it might damage the book.

I wouldn't actually do it. But boy do I want to.

Ah, well. In any case . . .

i know first hand that this is how many muslim fundies think, as my family is pretty fundi (made me go to a private all muslim school so i wouldn't be 'corrupted')

however, islam DOES say the earth is 'egg shaped' which is meant to mean 'roughly a sphere' not literally egg shaped i dont know where his comment on that came from.

rain thing, i can maybe understand if he's aking things literally, but even most fundies go with 'god created the sun and earth (including water on it) and so rain which would be caused by interactions based on this are also created by god'

islam is absolutely opposed to evolution though (tought in my school as 'it's not true but you need it for the exam so write that down even though you know it's wrong').

i eventually became an agnostic though, because of islmas stance on many things and its inconsistancies, including 'don't question what god says or you go to hell'
