Quote# 66560

There are many reasons we believe the Bible and all that it contains:

* The Bible claims to be the Word of God. 2 Timothy 3:16 states that every word of Scripture is inspired by God. 2 Peter 1:21 says that men of God wrote as they were “driven along” by the Holy Spirit.
* The Bible shows itself to be the Word of God. Every time there is a scientific or historical fact mentioned in the Bible, it has been shown to be true (the earth is round, currents in the sea, the prevailing winds, etc.). Even when a civilization mentioned has not been heard of before, archaeology eventually finds evidence that it really did exist.
* Jesus Christ quoted from the Bible and believed it to be true. Jesus used the Bible when He was being tempted by Satan. He also quoted the Bible numerous times and stated that He was fulfilling Scripture.
* Many Bible prophecies have already been fulfilled. There are thousands of prophecies in the Bible that have come true. Jesus Himself fulfilled over 600 through His life, death, and resurrection. Because so many prophecies in the Bible have already come true, we can trust that the rest will be fulfilled in the future.
* If the Bible is not true, then we have no basis for claiming we have been saved from our sins. It is only because of the Bible that we can say our sins have been forgiven. If we trust the Bible for our salvation, we must trust everything it says. Otherwise, we are picking and choosing only what we want to believe.

Doubting Thomas

This post is the complete and utter truth.
There are cities called New York, NY; London, England; and Tokyo, Japan.
There is no god.
The moon is made of green cheese.
Doubting Thomas will at the end of this post declare that it is true.
Everything in this post is true, otherwise you're just picking and choosing which parts of it to believe.

So using AIG's logic, there is no god because this post says so. And this post is true because it says that it's true. It's also proved true because it mentions places that actually do exist. And it fulfills a prophecy because it said that I would declare that it is true, which I am doing now. Just ignore the part about the moon being made of green cheese, believe it wholeheartedly, or understand it to be metaphorical.

Seriously, using the later books in the bible to try to prove that the "prophecy" in the earlier books really happened is pretty lame. That's like saying that Rocky was a real boxing champion because the "Rocky" sequels proved that the original movie was true, and the original movie foreshadowed the sequels. You just can't use a work of fiction to prove itself true.

Every time there is a scientific or historical fact mentioned in the Bible, it has been shown to be true.

Let me know how the experiments to replicate the results of Joshua in Genesis 30:37-39 goes. Good luck with that.
It should be against the law for people to fill kids' heads with this kind of shit.

"Every time there is a scientific or historical fact mentioned in the Bible, it has been shown to be true"

Yup, I'll give you that. Whatever the prevailing scientific theory of the day is, you'll find some way to twist a bible passage or two to "anticipate" it (after the fact). And when new data emerges and the scientists develop a different theory, you'll make the bible support that too.

Historically, science has always agreed 100% with the bible, even though, historically, it doesn't even agree 100% with itself. Interesting huh? That whatever the scientists say, the bible "predicted" it?

You know something even more interesting? Not one of those "predictions" was ever recognised before the scientists independently verified them.

Like a psychic who waits to see the outcome of a coin toss before telling you what his guess was, the bible is 100% accurate. And for exactly the same reason.

They are both bare-faced frauds.

"If the Bible is not true, then we have no basis for claiming we have been saved from our sins."

You could try having faith? Or is that so hard you'd rather spread ignorance and deceit than face facts?

*Circular reasoning. You fail.
*The Bible says the world is flat with a dome over it and that it's held up by pillars. It also says the sun and the moon orbit the Earth and that the Earth is the centre of the universe. Have you even read the thing you claim to believe?
*This is still circular reasoning, because Jesus is only mentioned in the Bible. You fail.
*When you say "There will be wars", you'll definitely have a prophecy or two fulfilled.
*My irony meter blew up at that last line.

1. Circular argument. The bible says its the word of god so it must be the word of god?

2. Bats are bird, locusts are not insects, insects have 4 legs, light doesn't come from the sun... And you maroon, people 2000 years ago knew about the earth being round, currents in the sea and wind. Your assuming the greeks and romans knew nothing about sailing when the Greeks were a naval power and so would have known about currents and tides and the sphericalness of the earth.

3. Jesus christ did not use the bible even once...

4. Meh I fufilled a lot of the biblical prophecies but you don't see me to be claiming to be the son of god.

5. Or you know that we don't have a lot of sin that the bible claims is sin...

"The Bible claims to be the Word of God. 2 Timothy 3:16 states that every word of Scripture is inspired by God. 2 Peter 1:21 says that men of God wrote as they were “driven along” by the Holy Spirit."

Circular reasoning. Try again.

"The Bible shows itself to be the Word of God. Every time there is a scientific or historical fact mentioned in the Bible, it has been shown to be true (the earth is round, currents in the sea, the prevailing winds, etc.). Even when a civilization mentioned has not been heard of before, archaeology eventually finds evidence that it really did exist."

Err.. no. People have been writing histories for millennia. No gods needed, thank you.

"Jesus Christ quoted from the Bible and believed it to be true. Jesus used the Bible when He was being tempted by Satan. He also quoted the Bible numerous times and stated that He was fulfilling Scripture."

And this explains that it's true and the word of god... exactly HOW? Again, it's circular.

"Many Bible prophecies have already been fulfilled. There are thousands of prophecies in the Bible that have come true."

Please name ONE... PLEASE. Pretty please sugar on top. Just a single one!

"Jesus Himself fulfilled over 600 through His life, death, and resurrection."

Name ONE.

"Because so many prophecies in the Bible have already come true, we can trust that the rest will be fulfilled in the future."

Yada yada, see my prior two responses.

"If the Bible is not true, then we have no basis for claiming we have been saved from our sins. It is only because of the Bible that we can say our sins have been forgiven. If we trust the Bible for our salvation, we must trust everything it says."

Circular.

"Otherwise, we are picking and choosing only what we want to believe."

Thanks for admitting it.

And AiG blames that kids are not instructed that the Bible should be read literally as the reason they stop believing in religion when they become teens...

People: Don't worry, their way of thought will only drive them deeper in their mad spiral about blaming why people leave their "church".

So its true because they make up stories about the prophecies in the first half being fullfilled?

That's great! I'm going to make up a lot of shit, then write a second book where all of it happens. Then I can be God too.

ARGUMENT FROM THE BIBLE (II)
(1) The Bible says the Bible is true.
(2) Therefore the Bible is true.
(3) The Bible says God exists.
(4) Therefore, God exists."
