Correction, he called the the crusades, he had no standing army with which to start a war, nor would they have happened if the kings of europe and the emperors of the Byzantine and Holy Roman empires not heeded the popes call.
As a Christian, I do not have any of the same beliefs as Catholicism
Catholics are now and have always been christian. Without catholicism the wouldn't be and protestants either. You can't expect to assert that catholics aren't christians and think just saying so makes it true.

He certainly had a large hand in it, but he was by no means the only guilty party. Either way he was still a christian and it was european christendom that launched and fought all the crusades.
