Quote# 71226

"Balkanizing" is exactly what YOU do dipshit, define everyone by their tribal affiliation. we're NOT individuals, we're "queers" or American-Somoa-Americans" according to your Leftard logic.

If you had even spent one hour studying the difference between cultures of the Old World and the New World, you would understand that we celebrate the individual, whereas they celebrate "blood ties" what binds us as a nation is patriotism and a single language, not queerness or anything other identity that splinters us into minority groups in search of political entitlement.

Canada's "multi-culti" philosophy is a joke. How can you have a country that openly invited people from other countries and tells, them: you don't need to speak our language, you don't need to adopt our customs, please be swift when you slit our pink bellies open. The first mistake was to allow French as an official language. The Frogs lost, the English in Canada should have acted like winners, not losers. Look at the result, the Frogs, a minority, suck down the most cash, bellyache the most and get catered to, when they should be booted out on the street, which is what they threaten to do from time to time, just to increase the cash flow.

You leftards are a sick bunch.

On same-sex marriage, who espouses individual rights, and who insists on group rights?

He seems to believe that America was made exclusively for European immigrants and whole Canada is French.

I'd like to know which alternate universe does he live in.

Also, your nickname is too good for you.

It is deliciously ironic that he begins by accusing his opponents of defining people by their group affiliations whilst claiming to support individualism, but by the second paragraph is already making the very same broad generalizations based on group affiliation that he just condemned. But he's posting on Moonbattery, so this is not a surprise.

Also, he seems to have misused the term 'balkanisation'.

He's right about Quebec, there's no hiding the pandering to them them of last thirty years.

As for our new immigrants, they seem to be fitting in for the larger part. It's definately culture-shock for Toronto and Quebec city as the largest part of 250,000 plus imigrants a year lanf in those cities.

Most of us like our country's multiculturalism. No, you don't have to speak either of the official languages, but it'll make it a hell of a lot easier when you have to leave your little cultural community for things like business. And, um, have you heard about what happened when the rights of the French weren't respected? Y'know, all that jazz with riots and threats of revolution. If nothing else, the French have a pretty good score card when it comes to successful revolutions. Well, except for the Acadians.

Canada's multicultural philosophy is generally working just fine for us, though I admit you have a point about Quebec. Other than the whiny Quebecois though (and the really whiny ones are at least enough of a minority that their motion to secede was defeated) we're really not suffering from multi-culturalism in the least. sorry to burst the paranoia-bubble.

I don't know if this particular guy is a poe or not, but the sentiment exists in any case.

hey, until you have to live in Canada and deal with the multiculturalism, keep your gob shut. I live here, I immigrated here. I know the language, I can get along on the french side too. And you know what, separatists are your thing, at leas ours haven't started any wars. And all we had to do was let them speak their own language. And the rest of the people? I'm actually happy that if I want to learn about another culture, I have a neighbor who knows.

Better to live in an Orwellian country where these retards want to be exactly like everybody else. And this is why I don't like to travel south of the border. You people are nuts, and I can't tell you apart from the normal americans.

Go and do something stupid. Wait, you already did. You spoke.

The first mistake was to allow French as an official language. The Frogs lost, the English in Canada should have acted like winners, not losers.

What do you mean "allow"? There have been many wars between France and England, none of them decisive. The French-speaking people were there from before the English. The French also occupied much of the central US, which was later purchased from France. There was no "war" between the French East and English West Canada to unite what is now Ontario and Quebec as the proto-Canada, so there were no losers and winners.

The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. E pluribus unum.

I won't bother to explain to this fellow. He wouldn't get it.

Although Quebec acts like the Scrappy of the provinces, they are also a Have, and much of their wealth is redistributed to Have Not provinces. So they're a key to Canada's wellbeing.

Someone seems to be pissed at the French in the Olympics.

Is this person an American? I cringe when people from the ROC comment on Quebec, let alone foreigners.

@ Canadiest and Gloria: why the fuck do people wonder where the Quebec sovereignty movement comes from? Can it have anything to do with your attitude?

A note to people who don't think this is fundy. FSTDT is not just about religious fundyism, but fundyism in all discourse. In fact this guy is so fundy about his politics he fails to recognize there is anyone in this nation who doesn't think like him:

"what binds us as a nation is patriotism and a single language, not queerness or anything other identity that splinters us into minority groups in search of political entitlement."

Sorry bud, this country is full of minority groups in search of political entitlement, including his. And yes, he, like all fundies, is plagued by his own simple minded idiocy.
