I don't allow anything in my house having to deal with spirits either. And my kids aren't allowed to watch Scooby Doo either. My mother always questions my decision but I stand firm on it.

I assume you don't keep any of that Christian stuff around...
And my kids aren't allowed to watch Scooby Doo either.
Why? Is it because the "spirits" always end up being fakes, like skydad?

You know when people say that you should listen to your mother? Sometimes they're right.
Blue Lithium, where'd you obtain a copy of Paranoius? I lost that volume ages ago, and it along with a few other books contain corrections to mistakes made in the rough draft/human changes as the stories were passed down. Anyway, could you forward the full text to me? I meant to distribute Paranoius, Annotations, Commonsensus, Revised 11 Commandments, and Judas a while back, but the scriptures got misplaced.
I don't suppose it ever occurred to this person that the ghosts/monsters/witches in Scooby Doo are never real (except in the movies). They're always unmasked at the end of each episode, revealing them to be normal human beings, so I don't know what this person's complaining about.
they probably dislike Scooby Doo because the show always provides a natural explaination for seemingly supernatural occurances at the end of the show. It might give the kids ideas about how if apparently supernatural and inexplicable events have a logical explaination that doen't require the supernatural on the show, maybe things in real life don't require a supernatural explaination either.
Avoid this house at Halloween,
Hell, avoid it all the time
What th'...?
Of all the things I've heard not being allowed to watch, Scooby Doo is so far the most ridiculous. I mean, seriously. The monsters aren't even real (usually). It is like THE classic '60s cartoon. There's not a single objectional thing in it. C'mon. Try not to suck so bad.
The irony is, Scooby Doo wasn't designed to scare kids. Its supposed to provide an air of intriguing creepiness, a few laughs, and a resolution that affirms that good has won out in the end. Apparently, that's too scary for her.
JustGodsChild, you just don't get it.
Scooby Doo? That's just a made-up cartoon, stupid!
I'm with your mother on this one. Btw, what happened to "Honor thy father and thy mother"?
Is there anything that really deals with spirits? Unless you are talking about alcoholic spirits, of course.
I allow lots of things in my house having to deal with fairy tales and fantasy. Many of them I have purchased myself. Two of them are Bibles and one is a Koran.
As they are all make-believe, nothing bad has ever resulted in having these things in my house.
Confused?
