Quote# 71766

Uh, they have announced that's there's going to be some votes laid on Sunday, and that, that they think that this 72 hour clock that's ticking brings us towards a Sunday when they would be voting on the Sabbath during Lent, uh, to socialize our health care in America for every single American, legal and illegal, and take away our liberty, and do it on Sunday. I think it's the most sanctimonious thing that I have ever seen....

They [liberals] have argued for a long time that there's a right to health care and there's a right to a health insurance policy that each one of us belongs to our very own. And I argue rights come from God.

I still don't understand how providing federally funded health insurance means that the goverment is taking away our liberty.

And you know what? King doesn't understand it either.

Ummm, how, precisely, does the bill take away my liberty?

Of course Steve King probably doesn't mind that the government provides health insurance for him.

And yet you somehow think that your god DOESN'T expect that everyone should have a right to live and be healthy?

Also, this is hardly real socialism.

Re: Anon-e-moose's post
The real irony here, is that many of the private Healthcare organisations that are protesting about "Obama's evil Socialist Medicare system" in the U.S, are actively bidding for Government contracts in the U.K, to help run "the Evil Socialist National Health Service"...
Odd how that little factoid, somehow hasn't come out in the U.S news media...?

Really? So now not only is God an almighty powerful omnipotent savior and father figure in the sky... but he's also manning the hospitals, the voting panels, and partaking in white house debates and passing bills and making laws and gathering for political meetings eh? WOW... that dude really is EVERYWHERE! GO SUPER GOD! /sarcasm

please... God is waiting for us for when we die.... not choosing our paths for us as we live. God does not get involved in these affairs... as perfect and powerful as he is.. why would he give a shit about it? We all must die one day to get to heaven or hell right? God has fuck all to do with politics health care reform hospitalization facilities, clinics, or government shit. GET OVER IT. Hes not that petty... :P

How did a FUCKING MORON like this get into office? WTF America? Did you all sleep in on voting day and then the only person who turned up was this guy and he just voted for himself since nobody else was around? "And I argue rights come from God" - what does this even mean?! It means fucking NOTHING. These people need to be removed. They're stupid and dangerous and uneducated and just every negative stereotype associated with America. Sort it the fuck out!

I'm with caustic gnostic on this one.
Quote: Bullshit. You've been commissioned by the insurance monopoly to protect their humongous dividend payouts. You spew irrelevant bullshit to distract from the real issue.

So, Jesus was a socialist when he multiplied loaves & fishes to feed a crowd, and when he provided free healings.

"They [liberals] have argued for a long time that there's a right to health care and there's a right to a health insurance policy that each one of us belongs to our very own. And I argue rights come from God."

That's what it is. That's what they're afraid of, isn't it?

They AREN'T concerned about this Bill being a step towards a socialist state -- they actually DO know better.

They AREN'T angry about subsidising the poorer citizens -- they DON'T have a problem with that.

What it REALLY is is the fact that WE are deciding our rights for ourselves rather than letting GOD dictate our rights to us. THAT'S what they don't like.

And THAT, then, is what needs to be addressed if we're to ever convince these people they're wrong.

Do you see what I mean?

Re: Nazani14's post
Effectively, judging by his acts, Jesus was a active "Socialist" according to modern definitions, possibly verging on full blown "Communism", abeit not the Leninist form adopted by the Soviet Union...
(There have been a series of cartoons in the British satirical pagazine Private Eye, dealing with Jesus acting in the style of a U.S HMO, & refusing to resurrect Lazarus from the Dead for various spurious reasons, such as not filling in his documentation correctly, failing to declare a pre-existing medical condition, etc...)

Actually, why not voting in Lent, since the bill is fulfilling one of the things that Jesus told us to do, that is, taking care of the sick?

You know, I remember hearing about another liberal who dealt with healthcare issues on a Sunday, and was called a hero by everyone except the religious establishment.

I believe his name was Jesus of Nazareth if I'm not mistaken.

And the HRC Act ONLY COVERS U.S. CITIZENS, not immigrants or resident aliens, legal or otherwise.

Time for the Hugh Blumenfeld lyrics again:

LONGHAIRED RADICAL SOCIALIST JEW
(THE GOSPEL SONG)

Well, Jesus was a homeless lad
With an unwed mother and an absent dad
And I really don't think he would have gotten that far
If Newt, Pat and Jesse had followed that star
So let's all sing out praises to
That longhaired radical socialist Jew

When Jesus taught the people he
Would never charge a tuition fee
He just took some fishes and some bread
And made up free school lunches instead
So let's all sing out praises to
That long-haired radical socialist Jew

He healed the blind and made them see
He brought the lame folks to their feet
Rich and poor, any time, anywhere
Just pioneering that free health care
So let's all sing out praises to
That longhaired radical socialist Jew

Jesus hung with a low-life crowd
But those working stiffs sure did him proud
Some were murderers, thieves and whores
But at least they didn't do it as legislators
So let's all sing out praises to
That longhaired radical socialist Jew

Jesus lived in troubled times
the religious right was on the rise
Oh what could have saved him from his terrible fate?
Separation of church and state.
So let's all sing out praises to
That longhaired radical socialist Jew

Sometimes I fall into deep despair
When I hear those hypocrites on the air
But every Sunday gives me hope
When pastor, deacon, priest, and pope
Are all singing out their praises to
Some longhaired radical socialist Jew.

They're all singing out their praises to....
Some longhaired radical socialist Jew.

I was not aware that it was forbidden to vote during Lent. Wait, Jesus also was clear that Sabbath didn´t have to be so tight. And also, that you had an obligation to take care of the sick.Anyway, what´s your point?
