Speaking as someone who has taken a course on suicide intervention... yes, homosexuals do have a higher rate of suicide than average.
The reason has nothing to do with sex, though, but rather that they are more likely to face rejection and disconnection with their family and peers, thus losing the support network that reduces the risk of suicide.
In other words, people like this working to prevent the establishment of alternate support networks as well as alienating their own family are part of the cause of increase suicide and trying to make it that much worse.

I remember "Free To Be You And Me" (FTBYAM). I don't remember it being a lesson plan for schools, but I do remember the books, albums, and after school specials from the 1970s. Nothing in any of them were geared toward homosexuality specifically. The goal of FTBYAM was to promote tolercance, individuality, and a healthy, happy, and accepting self-image.
Maybe that's why fundies dislike FTBYAM, Individuality violates their "flosck of mindless sheep" mentality, tolerance is only allowed of the other person thinks just like them, and a good self-image...they can't stand it when anyone feels good about themselves since they know everyone is a wretched evil sinner.

It was about letting the kids do some work and letting the parents see if they need to be concerned about progress. You know what? I'm gay. For a while last year, I suffered from anxiety and depression. This year I realised I was gay, and since then I've come out to my family and most of my close friends. None of them have been disapproving. Since then I've been able to stop taking the anti-depressants. I've stopped having anxiety attacks. Being true to myself is how I overcame my depression. For people who have "friends" they can't tell, or have an unsupporting family or community, sometimes suicide is a last desperate attempt for love and/or acceptance. I know that the suicide rate is correct, but where are the studies about homosexuality related to alcoholism?
