(iPhone app allows people to instantly report suspicious persons to authorities)
This will in fact lead to underground Bible study groups and worship services getting raided by the "Hate Police". Nothing new under the sun. Get ready for the camps people.

Why do Bible groups study underground? Is it to annoy Satan with the sound of prayer?

Its actually pretty simple: As long as your group isn't involved with activley spreading hate, then you have nothing to fear from the hate police. Since, by the same logic, you already have nothing to fear from the Thought police...

Yeah, yeah, see if you can get me some prime seats for when they feed you to the lions, will ya.

Where do you live, Saudi Arabia? Because that scenario could never play out in the Christian-majority US.

I don't think this app will be used by anybody who would have a beef with you. To be honest, it will probably used by paranoid people who find people of lower class scary.

Why is it that the most religious among us are totally ignorant of the U.S. Constitution?

And why, whenever I read something like this, do I think of that scene in Monty Python and the Holy Grail: "Ah, now we see the violence inherent in the system. Help! Help! I'm being repressed!"

You're already awaiting an apocalypse that will not come, why NOT await "the camps" you'll never be put into, as well?

Huh?
What the fuck?

WarGamer, If you try holding your bible studys and worship services ABOVEGROUND... people wont mistake you for secret muslims, and they wont report you to anyone.

Their persecution complex seems to be just getting worse and worse every year... Every single thing that happens in the world is seen as a sign that they will be put in concentration camps - and that they aren't in concentration camps yet doesn't seem to lessen that belief.

In fact, it seems like every failed prediction of horrible upcoming persecution only strengthens their belief. Just like all the failed Rapture predictions.

"Nothing new under the sun" he says, typing on his computer to publish on the Internet about an app for a mobile phone.

Do you have nothing better to do all day than think up ways that new technology could possibly be used to persecute Christians? Highly improbable ways, at that.

"This will in fact lead to underground Bible study groups and worship services getting raided by the "Hate Police"."

No, but I'm sure it will flood them with a bunch of spurious reports that do nothing but waste time and manpower.

Rest easy. Your precious Bible study groups are safe another day.

Any day now...

Any day...

Here they come...

Forget the fundies, they're already dead to us.

Let's focus on this "app" for a second. Go to the Web link and read about this; it won't take long. I'm not an Alex Jones fan by any means but this is seriously creepy.

Yet another reason not to carry a mobile phone.

You keep saying it's going to happen, and yet it doesn't. Maybe someday, you'll wake up and realize it never will.

We don't give a shit if you have open air Bible study groups. Christians aren't being persecuted, you moron.
The problem is when you actively spew hatred against certain groups of people, like gays. Even there, I would simply tell you to shut the fuck up. I wouldn't call the cops.
You idiots are paranoid.

They're going to persecute us! (fap, fap, fap)

We in the UK already have that - and no app required: it's called Crimestoppers.

And our police have a Zero Tolerance policy against Hate Crimes of any kind. That, and Section 5 of the Public Order Act.

Forced (and legally enforceable) tolerance. Thought Police. A 'Nanny State'? Good.

"This will in fact lead to underground Bible study groups and worship services getting raided by the "Hate Police". Nothing new under the sun. Get ready for the camps people."

And from the point of view of we Atheists, that's a bad thing... how?

Y'know, Ruptured Retards, there's always an alternative to being a fundie: not being a fundie.

Just ask the Quakers, Unitarian Universalists, Buddhists et al.

Not being a right-wing Fundamentalist bigot (instead being a Left-wing, hyper-tolerant non-fundie Christian, like those here in FSTDT). It won't kill you.

No matter how much you wish for it, it's not going to happen.

In the US, "hate laws" don't make anything a crime that wasn't a crime already. They deal only with the severity of punishment. So unless a Bible study group or church is doing something that has always been illegal, like blowing up a mosque, beating homosexuals or burning down black churches, they are protected by the First Amendment.

But this app will be so useful to you too! Blatant Faggotry walking down the street? Point the camera toward the sodomist, push report button, cops show up! I mean, if I were a fundie, that's what I would use the app for.

Can't you think of the happy things, Rapturites? (Well, happy things by your standards?) Do you have to always think of how any new things make your own life even more miserable? Have you no imagination for good things at all?

I think this post just proves what the fundie priorities are. It's fairly clear that persecution complex is far higher in their minds than homophobia. Probably because they feel they're are persecuted due to homophobia and other things.

I have my own Big Brother conspiracy theories about the DHS and and their "report suspicious activity" campaign. That, along with the TSA, Patriot Act, and the fact that there are security cameras everywhere, but it is illegal in an increasing number of states to video tape police (brutality) has convinced me we live in a police state.

But it's not the christian prayer groups that are being persecuted . . . it's all of us. Fear and hate will make it easier for the government to convince us to give up even more of our rights and allow them to pass even more laws against our actual best interest and freedom.
