Quote# 80311

Hang on, let me just tell you what I'm thinking. I'm thinking about killing Michael Moore, and I'm wondering if I could kill him myself, or if I would need to hire somebody to do it. No, I think I could. I think he could be looking me in the eye, you know, and I could just be choking the life out -- is this wrong? I stopped wearing my What Would Jesus -- band -- Do, and I've lost all sense of right and wrong now. I used to be able to say, "Yeah, I'd kill Michael Moore," and then I'd see the little band: What Would Jesus Do? And then I'd realize, "Oh, you wouldn't kill Michael Moore. Or at least you wouldn't choke him to death." And you know, well, I'm not sure.

How is it legal for him to say this?!

Doctor Whom

3/29/2011 9:35:44 AM

And this guy is... on television...

...and he has his own show...

...and people actually look up to him.

3/29/2011 9:38:36 AM

Yeah, you probably shouldn't say that in the public domain. Might be construed as a death threat, on account of how, you know, it is.

3/29/2011 9:39:00 AM

Not to nitpick but this quote is almost six years old.

EDIT: Don't get me wrong -- it's absolutely insane and deserves to have the shit mocked out of it. I couldn't care less about the guy. I'm just saying keep in mind that this was said six years ago and not, say, yesterday when you rip into it. :-)

Glenn Beck essentially verbalizing the fundamental flaw in all Christian fundie logic. The only thing stopping them from being psychopathic killers going on a spree is their belief that Jeebus will send them to hell for doing it.
That isn't morality.

EDIT: Doctor Whom beat me to it, and with a nice picture, too.

Doctor Whom for the win

It might be old but that doesn't make Beck any less crazy. If I remember right he also once joked about poisoning (then Speaker of the House) Nancy Pelosi.

3/29/2011 10:02:16 AM

LOL Glenn Beck.

I mean we have free speech and shit but I'm pretty sure this guy shouldn't have a tv show.

3/29/2011 10:04:52 AM

Oh, come on, guys. Can you say that the idea of killing Michael Moore never, ever, crossed your mind ?

... errr... me neither...

Anyway, this still doesn't solve one of the Universe's greatest mysteries : how is it possible for someone like Glenn Bleck to be still on the air.

Also, I don't think Beck would be any more (or less) dangerous without religion. Even without the threat of divine retribution, he would still be restrained by the consequences of his possible sociopathic actions. There's a reason most countries with a nonreligious majority/plurality aren't criminal hellholes, and it's not because we've weeded out asshattery out of our genepool. Not by a long shot.

3/29/2011 10:08:59 AM

Oh pleaseohpleaseohplease Glenn! Say something like that about President Obama so the Secret Service can jail your fat ass!

Jezebel's Evil Sister

When I started reading this, I thought "Wow! Whoever said that is truly psychotic."

Then, I saw that it came from Glenn Beck. And my initial impression was confirmed.

Doubting Thomas

Remember when, after Congressperson Giffords was shot, and it was speculated that hate speech on Fox News leads people to acts of violence?

This right here is why that idea was brought up. And Fox News knows, and Glenn Beck too, that if some lone nutjob does actually go out and kills Michael Moore, the news network won't be found culpable but get the benefit of having someone they dislike out of the way permanently.

If a liberal talk show host was even joking about killing someone like say, Rush Limbaugh, Sarah Palin, or even Glenn Beck, Fox News would be all over it condemning it as hate speech and criminal threats. But if Glenn does it, it's "freedom of speech."

3/29/2011 10:21:22 AM

I was going to say something like "not fundie, just crazy"...but then I saw the name. WTF? I hope Michael Moore gets a restraining order against him.
Edit: Apparently this is old. Replace "gets" with "got".

3/29/2011 11:01:33 AM

Isn't this illegal to say?

3/29/2011 11:03:34 AM

Anyone still doubting Beck's insanity has only to read this... holy shit.

EDIT: I went to youtube to listen to an audio clip of it, and ran across a comment saying that this was just "liberal bias" to make Glenn look bad. Guess Beck isn't the only one who's delusional.

HI! I am a Nigerian prince and an assassin for hire! If you lend me your bank account for a while, you can have all you want!

This guy is one voice in his head away from being Henry Lee Lucas.

The Dude

And to think Michael Moore is a Christian.

Death threats from a rather well-known individual. Will the Republicans finally stop claiming that their violent rhetoric is a problem? I am willing to bet money that they won't. Still, a man can dream, right?

3/29/2011 11:42:04 AM

Guess what I'm thinking. "Thou shalt not kill", that's what I'm thinking.
I know in my heart and mind that it's wrong to kill other people, as they have just as much right to life and liberty as I do.
You seem to be needing someone on your shoulder, telling you what not to do.
Who's the more moral of us? I'll give you a hint; it isn't you.

3/29/2011 11:51:03 AM

So, um...can anyone verify this and report him for death threats?

3/29/2011 12:09:54 PM

Meh... what do you expect from a graduate of the 12 step alcoholic's... praise jeebus brigade...

An overpayed highschool dropout who got lucky. About as much talent as a slug.

>> I stopped wearing my What Would Jesus -- band -- Do, and I've lost all sense of right and wrong now. <<

It's only a wrist band that's keeping this maniac from acting his fantasies? Not his religion, not jesus, not the Lard's retribution, not a moral sense -- a fucking wrist band? He seems to be aware of the rules, but he can hide the band when he wants a little freedom to be himself, and jesus won't know about it.

Somebody hog-tie this asshole and tattoo the appropriate commandment(s) onto his arms so he can stay focused.

3/29/2011 12:27:23 PM

Would Jesus have his own show on Fox News in which he manically scribbles on chalkboards and whips up paranoid hysteria about communist plots to undermine america?... probably not.
