Really, Newt? because as bad as it is now, it's not nearly as bad as it was.

Is Gingrich for real? His marital and extra-marital history are hardly paragons of nuptual virtue, according to Wikipedia. If there is any truth in Wiki, he is surely the last one to blame people who want to get married, even once, for economic woes.
Perhaps he should be looking at the Bush II regime and it's profligacy, which he was party to as a member of the Republican government.
As to values, (again as reported by Wiki) anyone who abandons his wives for mistresses, is hardly qualified to address the matter. And Catholic radio is hypocritical in giving air time to such a person.

“The concept of family being between man and woman and the concept of all these core values that grow out of 3,000 years of Judeo-Christian tradition,” Gingrich answered.
Um, no. Until the 20th century, a family was you, your parents and grandparents, aunts, uncles, AND the kids all living under ONE roof. Until the 19th century, women were property. And until
1976, a man was allowed to rape his wife without consequences in all 50 states.
But then, I wouldn't expect someone who divorced his wife to marry a younger mistress--TWICE--to actually know or care about marriage at all. In fact, it's a travesty for Newt to even use the phrase "sanctity of marriage," given that he has already shit all over the concept twice.
@Murph: "Imply," not "apply."

Because gay marriage was rampant in the 1930s.
By the way, is that marriage: one man, one woman for as long as they both shall live, or marriage: one man, one woman until the man gets bored, cheats, ultimately leads to a divorce, and finds someone more exiting to try again with?

"3000 years of Judeo-Christian tradition" yep, the same tradition that supported Soloman having 1000 wives and concubines (f**k buddies), the same tradition that said Lot was a virtuous man, after offering his virgin daughters to a crowd so they could be gang-raped, THEN praised the same daughters for getting their father drunk so they could sleep with him, and have his children.
Newt and Rudy Guiliani and Rush obviously have a greater respect for the sactity of marriage than Obama does, after all, they have all been married 3 times, while Barack has only been married once.

"The concept of family being between man and woman and the concept of all these core values that grow out of 3,000 years of Judeo-Christian tradition,"
It is, Newt?! 'Cause families didn't exist before Jesus, right?
"...free people are based on faith,"
We are, Newt?! Hmmm, that's strange because I am not a person of faith and yet I know I'm free. How? Because I recognize my own intrinsic value as a human being. No one can take that away from me. No one.
"The very basis of our belief and freedom is that we believe we are endowed by our creator with certain unalienable rights."
No, we all don't believe that. See above.

Didn't you serve your first wife with divorce papers while she was in the hospital suffering from cancer, Newt? And didn't you leave your second wife shortly after she was diagnosed with MS, hmmm?
And you want to be president, you worthless little bag of shit? And what would you do if another 9/11 happened? Run away and decide to be president of Denmark instead?
Pompous ass. Most gay men I know are 100 times the man you are.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has suggested gay marriage is to blame for America's economic woes.
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is an unmitigated idiot.
“The concept of family being between man and woman and the concept of all these core values that grow out of 3,000 years of Judeo-Christian tradition,” Gingrich answered. “This is a direct threat to the entire secular world.”
Would you care to explain just exactly how "traditional" marriage is a "threat" to secular society? Moreover you seem to be under the impression that "traditional" marriage is an exclusively "judeo-christian" concept... it is not.
“We're becoming increasingly secular, the family is under attack and economically we're experiencing woes like we've never known in our history it seems. So what is the connection here?” Limandri asked.
There isn't any connection between same-sex marriage and the economy and to even suggest that there is a connection reflects the claimants abject ignorance of both subjects. Furthermore, "the family" is not under any form of attack and certainly not by same sex marriage which has no relevance or effect on anyone elses family.
“You have to recognize that free enterprise is based on free people and … free people are based on faith,”
Oh bullshit! Almost every "faith based" government, jewish, christian, muslim, or otherwise, has been anything but free, but rather manifesting as an authoritarian and totalitarian theocracy. The freedom in "faith based" government rarely if ever extends to those who do not share or profess that particular faith.

This is... wow. Most fundie rants have some sort of reason behind it, even if it's buried deep down, onto which the insanity is built, but this is just incomprehensible. There is no... coherency at all to his ramblings, not a single shred of logic or basis in either reality or mythology; it's as if he took a bunch of buzzwords, threw them into the air and decided to speak them in the order in which they landed.
It's things like this that lead to the stereotype of the USA being controlled by religious nuts. Every nation has their lunatics, and inevitably every nation has their lunatic politicians, but the USA is the only developed nation where not only are the lunatic politicians incredibly rampant but they're MAINSTREAM, to an extent seen nowhere else that isn't a theocracy. Of course, he could just be a typical politician playing the most effective role to get lots of votes, but that leads to the stereotype of the USA being POPULATED mostly by religious nuts. I am confuse.

Free enterprise and Christianity have nothing whatever to do with each other. One is based on the idea that people and businesses should be allowed to do whatever they want with a minimum of government interference. The other is the exact opposite: that the Bible has all the rules, enforced by an all-powerful God.

I suggest that former house speaker Newt Gingrich is to blame for America economic woes.
It was him that enacted the republic partys job killing policies in the 90s, setting the stage for the economic destruction in the 00s

Hard to get upset over this really.
Gingrich is a longtime politician and is one to the core. He has lost any sort of ground he had to stand on long ago, but sees religious frothers getting support. As such, he's adopting their views in a vote grab.
It just ends up coming off as more pathetic than the more genuine hatred that comes up here.
