Robert E. Lee was not the white power crusader you think he was. He wanted the United States to be united. But he also took state loyalty very seriously. He remained loyal to the South out of state loyalty, not to protect slavery.
Why else do you think he would be okay with accepting surrender terms that ban slavery nationwide?

What makes this sort of bigotry go on is using the term "race" with inadvertantly implies "species". I had decided to expand the meaning of the word "ethnicity" in response. "Ethnicity" isn't applied to non-human animals. Therefore, you have the Black, Caucasian, Hispanic, Indigenous American, etc. Ethnicities. Likewise, stuff like Italian, Polish, Slavic, Jewish, Basque, etc. will be regarded as "Sub-Ethnicity" or "Ethnic Subgroup". "Race" is an evil word. If everyone was an "Ethnicity", the tendency to dehumanize will lessen a bit. There is only one Race, The Human Race.
Perhaps I shouldn't say "Ethnobigotry". I should've said "Ethnibigotry". I realize what you are saying "Ethno" means BUGS. I'm sorry for the goof. Thanks a million, Bollox. =)
Funnily enough, that is exactly how Liberia was created. It did not turn out well for Liberia. Their president just won the Nobel Peace Prize, so they might be starting to recover from that. Don't make it worse.

People are going to think and feel how they do and it's naive to think that a deliberate campaign to replace "race" with "ethnic group" is going to solve any problems.
Race is not the problem, prejudice is the problem. If we do what you say then racists will just become ethnicists and they will equate ethnicity with species and then we'll have even more conflict because you'll get Irish, French, Germans, and Italians acting like they're different species.
Political correctness does not work.
