They said the way textbooks are worded now can portray out founding fathers in a negative light. However, some teachers said changing the wording to sway the opinion of students could end up hurting their education.

"I want to be able to present the material and have the children, have the kids, have the students form their own opinions. Not have their opinions formed ahead of time," said American History Teacher CJ Manahan.

"Slavery is of course portrayed in the textbooks nowadays I'm sure as a totally negative thing. Had there not been slavery in the south, the economy would've fallen," said Tea Party Activist Brian Rieck.
