Yawn. Disneyland has been doing this for eons. It draws huge attendance and the sky hasn't fallen yet.
4/25/2012 3:07:55 AM
Yes, because Disney employees should throw out all of those couples holding hands, hugging and kissing. Because it's TOTALLY different when two same sex people do it.
Heck, why not throw those gays out of the state and have people pick up shovels and dig up their back yards to make a river? Then each and every Florida family could have their own roller coaster.
4/25/2012 3:37:23 AM
And we owe you a vote of thanks for the banners. Nothing ruins a good time at Disney like some fundies trying to tell me how immoral I can be just for being there.
BTW, did you know that Donald Duck doesn't wear pants?
4/25/2012 3:41:11 AM
Filin De Blanc
What exactly do these people think will happen if kids see same-sex couples? They'll become gay themselves?
4/25/2012 3:43:47 AM
How would you feel if you entered the Magic Kingdom anticipating a normal day of fun with your family only to witness thousands of same-sex couples holding hands, hugging, kissing and wearing tee-shirts that promoted their lifestyle?
Well, it's really no worse than seeing thousands of heterosexual couples doing the same thing.
Just like activists’ attempts to gain access to youthful minds through LGBT characters in video games...
Why is it that every time LGBT characters are introduced in video games or t.v. shows, it's "indoctrination" to you? Oh, that's right, you much prefer to live your lives tuning out anything you wish didn't really exist.
Newflash: not everybody is exactly like you in every way. The media introducing a wide range of diverse characters is not indoctrination, it is reflecting off of the real world. May I also say that I find your lifestyle of sheltering your children from anything that contradicts your narrow worldview to be much more offensive than your offense at my "lifestyle" (which is truly a loaded word, because I'm sure my life is pretty boring to begin with).
...they also want to impact a captured audience of tens of thousands of children during the first Saturday of Summer Break.
No, they just want a fun day of being able to be themselves without having to worry about being bashed because of narrow-minded bigots.
4/25/2012 3:45:15 AM
Gee...I guess I should thank the Florida Family Association for telling me the BEST time to go to the park - 50-60% attendance drop by fundie families on that Saturday? WOOT! More rides with less lines for me!
4/25/2012 3:59:31 AM
I swear to Zod, I will pistol whip every goddamn member of these fucking "family" groups.
I am so sick of this shit.
4/25/2012 4:08:03 AM
FFA, this is the "capitalism" that your kind defend so vehemently. Disney has every right to cater to the people it wants to cater to. If it doesn't want to cater to you, that's their choice. And if you choose to not give them your business, so be it. In the end Disney doesn't care if you don't come - 50 people are waiting in line behind you that don't have an issue. So go ahead and stop giving Disney your business. All of you go ahead. See how effective you are.
4/25/2012 4:12:15 AM
The FFA. Isn't that the 'group' that consists of a single fucknut that has a bug up his ass about 'teh GAAAAYYYYZZZZZZZZ'?
The UNofficial 'Gay Days' have been going on for a long time, and no-one has been hurt by it, least of all Disney.
Begone, FFA. You are not relevant.
4/25/2012 4:15:00 AM
Turn the clock back fifty years. Replace "gays" with "blacks". Congratulations, you recognise the insanity of this post that the FFA clearly hasn't.
4/25/2012 4:43:01 AM
Then go on some other day, morans. Or don't go at all. You'll none of you be missed.
4/25/2012 4:56:27 AM
Yep, it's totally about converting heterosexual individuals to our side and not about providing support for existing non-heterosexuals...
4/25/2012 5:29:33 AM
Actually, since I'm straight, Gay Day for me would be No Bigot Day.
4/25/2012 5:34:58 AM
"The airplane banner influenced mainstream family attendance at Disney during Gay Day to DROP between 50% to 60%."
If this works so well to drive fundies away, we should fly these banners continuously everywhere in the US. It should work equally well on muslims and christians. It will cause the fundie population of the US to DROP 50% to 60%
4/25/2012 5:38:41 AM
ONE DAY, one friggin day in the whole year, LGBT people gather and have fun at Disney together, and you would begrudge them even that day? They should have about 10 percent of the days, as they are 10 percent of the population. How big a part of the population in the US are fundie bigots? Here in Sweden it might be less than 1 percent.
If I had children, I'd rather LGBT awareness gained access to their youthful minds, than fundy activists or right-wing activists. Actually, I'd prefer LGBT awareness to Disney's commercialism.
Before I spent hundreds of dollars on a trip to Disney, I would check out the activity there that day. I bet there is info about the LGBT Saturday somewhere on the net. Anyway; my day would not have been ruined by people sharing their love with the world. Fundie hatred on the other hand...
4/25/2012 5:52:36 AM
I'm betting that most people intent on visiting Disneyland probably didn't even see the plane & banner. And those who did probably didn't care. Think about it, after buying airline tickets and hotel rooms for a family of four, and perhaps buying tickets to Disneyworld online in advance, you think someone's going to see that plane and say, "Well, sorry kids, we have to go back home because Disneyworld is overrun with gay people."
I also love how their site claims that there was very low attendance at Disneyworld that day, but looking at the pictures it looks like there were quite a few people there. Especially in one picture of the gay people where there are numerous people walking around in the background. Makes me wonder how many pictures of crowds they didn't use on their page. "Traditional Family" attendance may have been down, but there were a lot of non-traditional families to make up for it.
4/25/2012 6:32:52 AM
Dear god NOT exposure!!!!! We must keep our children as ignorant as possible so they don't get the idea that gays are people just like them! How will wee be able to perpetuate our bigotry then if we can't dehumanize our opponents?
Commit a day for fun now ruined
If your day of fun is ruined by seeing gay people then you must live a pretty privileged and sheltered life. Gay people exist and being ignorant of them and avoiding them won't make them stop existing. They're here, they're queer, so fucking get used to it already.
4/25/2012 6:35:52 AM
Heh, I was at Disneyland one time when my birthday happened to fall on Gay Day. You wouldn't even know what it was if you weren't already aware of it. Their shirts promote their lifestyle?? They wear plain red shirts. That's it. Since when does red promote anything? The couples sometimes held hands, but I didn't even see so much as a kiss happen. They act no different than straight couples, I don't see them make out at Disneyland much, either.
The only thing that sucked about it being Gay Day was that cute girls were checking me out, and I couldn't do anything about it since I was there with family, and I'm not out to most of them for various personal reasons. XD
4/25/2012 7:18:46 AM
The whole "purchasing food and novelties" thing sure does sound blasphemous.
4/25/2012 7:26:20 AM
Not to mention keep their dear sweet precious fundie children as ignorant as possible so they don't find out that there are people just like them and they're not some kind of one-in-a-million freak of nature.
4/25/2012 8:06:18 AM
God forbid you and your delicate family should be confronted by other American citizens having fun at an amusement park. Jeez, Louise, what were they thinking?
4/25/2012 8:29:57 AM
Wait a minute, this ISN'T from Bryan Fischer? I am shocked.
4/25/2012 8:30:05 AM
Whee! Shorter lines. Thank you religious fuckwits!
4/25/2012 8:36:25 AM
Proof that fundie wingnuts never get any brighter. Back in the '80s, Donald Wildmon and his Mississippi zealots tried to boycott Disney for the same reason. Result: Wildmon "declared victory" and slunk away after a few years of miserable failure.
Ranting preachers don't stand a chance against a chorus of kids begging to ride the spinning teacups. Let the Florida Family Asses embarrass themselves; they're sure to lose.
4/25/2012 9:40:11 AM
"Last year Florida Family Association hired an aircraft company to pull a banner for ten hours the day before and ten hours the day of to warn families about this offensive event before they arrived at the park on Saturday."
It's only an "offensive" event to bigoted fuckwits like you. The rest of us don't care. No one is having sex at the Magic Kindom during the event, heterosexual or not, so are simply blowing wind about "impressionable children".
