How does throwing acid in their faces when they demand independence from men benefit women?
Because female independence is strongly correlated with a whole host of social ills. Using the utilitarian metric favored by most atheists, a few acid-burned faces is a small price to pay for lasting marriages, stable families, legitimate children, low levels of debt, strong currencies, affordable housing, homogenous populations, low levels of crime, and demographic stability.
How do honor killings benefit women?
Because female promiscuity and divorce are strongly correlated with a whole host of social ills, from low birth and marriage rates to high levels of illegitimacy.

Oh, yes, Sweden is much more unstable, crime-ridden, and heavy in debt than Somalia. The Swedish Krona is much weaker than the Somali Shilling. Woe betide us poor Swedish women, who never have acid thrown in our faces nor get killed by our fathers/brothers to hide the shame of thinking women.
The term illegitimacy is not valid in Sweden; all children are legitimate.
Two persons, who stay together because they really want to, must make a much more stable marriage/family, than when one person is forced to stay, or face ostracism, poverty or death.
Yeah, how dare us women get all uppity like that and do such things like dress in modern clothing, or talk to boys or men (depending on age) that aren't related to us, or say that we don't want to marry someone who is twice to three times our age and possibly related to us?
Yeah it's all our fault that bad things happen in the world because we feel like we're people and not property.
I have typed, deleted then retyped several times because I cannot quite find a proper response to this.
Fuck you, Vox. You give men a bad name. You give human beings a bad name. I think you generally give sentient life a bad name.
In other words, terrorizing women is okay in order to keep them in line.
Yeah. No amount of FOADIAF is sufficient for this guy.
In other words, it's ok to terrorise women to keep them in line because you fantasise that female liberation leads to all manner of social ills.
Vox, you are an evil, evil bastard.
How does pouring acid in a male fundies pants benefit society?
Because the fundie level in a society is strongly correlated to a whole host of social ills. Using the circular reasoning favored by most fundies, a few acid burned dicks is a small price to pay for preventing a different kind of fundie from taking control of government and imposing his religion on the first fundie.
But fundies are too dim to grasp that concept, so they have to be kept under control using methods that one wouldn't use on a rabid dog.
"Lasting marriages"? Based on terrorising wives?
"Homogenous populations"? "Demographic stability"? Too many black people around for you?
Maybe you'd like to iterate these "strong correlations" between female independence and this "whole host of social ills"? No? You surprise me.
You, Sir, are a misogynist racist moron. But we knew that already.
@Tempus
Best Response Ever!
As for the OP, another fundie complaining about low birth rates, I see. Because, obviously, 7 billion people on this planet still isn't enough! And is the bit about "homogenous populations" code for "no darkies"?
As for the bit about "illegitimacy" at the end, here's an interesting thought. How many of the fundies ranting about the "evils" of this, and demanding that the stigma against "illegitimate" children be brought back are also rabid pro-lifers? "Yes, if you're born, we're going to make darned sure you spend your entire life being treated like shit (and for something you had absolutely no say over too!), but dammit, you have a RIGHT to that life of misery!"
Yes, women are terrible. You may want to stay the fuck away from them for the rest of your miserable existence. After all, you don't want them to corrupt your pure and wonderful maleness with their icky, awful, wicked femaleness. Leave that to inferior men like me.
What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone on this site is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
"Because female promiscuity and divorce are strongly correlated with a whole host of social ills, from low birth and marriage rates to high levels of illegitimacy."
As opposed to male promiscuity?
You are what's wrong with the world.
Just to be clear, he's playing the tired old game of "Here's what atheists would do if they really believed what they say they believed. See how awful it is?"
...of course, his logic assumes that everyone agrees with his misogynistic, racist worldview and that individual rights have no place in a utilitarian ethical system.
I am convinced that this individual is a troll. He wants to be hated. So I'm just going to pass him by. Anyone who constructs a hate-filled diatribe as disgusting as this is no more than an attention seeker. That is why I have clicked "meh" on this. Sorry if you disagree, it's just that there is no way this idiot can actually believe any of this crap. He's just a toddler screaming for attention in a room full of (hopefully) mature adults.
This suffers badly from being taken out of context.
Some people here have taken these as if he were being literal, when he clearly indicates he wasn't. " [T]hese [aren't]... even convincing [but] that they can be used to generate hypotheses and then subsequently put to the scientific test."
In effect he is arguing that there may be valid socio-biological reasons why religious memes function as survival rules to benefit the believers and the culture.
While this is not a valid rebuttal to P.Z. Myers point that the women injured by these rules are (tautologically) harmed by these rules, it perfectly shows Myers was wrong to treat that tautology as a valid rebuttal to Wilson's evolutionary claims.
Vox is normally many levels of crazy, but in this instance his hypotheticals are no more noxious that it would be to suggest that in some instances cannibalism arose because it can alleviate protein deficiency. He's not arguing for their desirability, he's outlining sociological consequences.
"Because female independence is strongly correlated with a whole host of social ills."
So you're saying if you put them all together Frankenstein-fashion, you could make a Rush Limbaugh or Bill O'Reilly out of them?
.... And are any of this "host" not dressed-up little brown turds from your alimentary canal? Do you pretend they are your army and you are The Supreme Leader?
Did your father own a shoe store? When my brother was a little boy, shoe stores used to have X-ray machines that were used to display the bones in your feet. If your dad repeatedly X-rayed his testicles, it would explain a lot.
First, I would just like to say that when you cite the son of tax protester Robert Beale, give his full pseudonym, Vox Day. There is a commenter on here who goes by Vox, and I do not think he would appreciate the conflation.
Now, onto Vox Day's post.
Has it ever occurred to him that the only reason independent women face social ills is because of sexism, particularly in the societies where they get sprayed with acid? This is only more proof that Christian and Islamic fundies are indistinguishable. An American has just said something that would not be out of place in Pakistan. Europeans have the right idea to condemn us as backward-- Americans idolize Third World nations. We can no longer be considered First World, because like it or not, Vox Day is the mainstream conservative opinion.
Gee, Vox, you don't mention that MALE promiscuity, and their creating those illegitimate children. How's about we throw acid in their faces, and honor kill them, too? Fucking asswipe.
Typical "It's all the bitches' fault!" rant.
Perhaps Mr. Vox Day should check out Victorian history - a society where marriage was enshrined, illegitimacy punished with ostracism, and divorce was a scandal that could only be provided by an Act of Parliament. This ideal society (by his standards) also had the highest rates of alcohol/drug abuse, prostitution (especially child prostitution), flagellation clubs, slums, and crime ever seen in England to that point.
Mr. Vox Day should also remember that female promiscuity cannot exist without male promiscuity. So if he keeps his pants zipped, he is contributing to female chastity.
Oh, one more point ...
How do honor killings benefit women?
They don't have to put up with the selfish, self-centered, narcissistic, sadistic, creepy bastard men in their lives any more.
There are many things to fear in modern society. Lucky for us, we can impose easy solutions on these ills. Sadly, there are one or two evils that are holding us back from achieving utopia, evils for which we refuse to impose the known solutions. But it's nice to see someone pointing out the answers.
For instance, the vampire problem can be solved with wooden stakes. The werewolf problem can be cured by silver bullets. Malevolent spirits can be thwarted with Holy Water. Black presidents can be foiled by voting Republican. Other tribes that live far away can be bombed.
So why oh why can't we legalize acid in the face as a solution to the problem of women?
Everytime I see a quote like this, every freaking time, I feel like venting my frustrations on any kind of game with a motorized melee weapon, drill, chainsaw, whatever. That hellish wail is so calming for some reason. Its like these guys bring up some kinda hidden paternal instinct in me or something, probably why I always just go right to Bioshock instead of anything else I have in my library.
As much as I detest Vox Day, if this is taken out of context and constitutes deliberate exaggeration, as John_in_Oz says, I suggest we move on.
Taken out of context it may be, but Vox Day is still completely misrepresenting the positions of atheism utilitarianism, and feminism.
Not to mention that in the real world female independence is strongly correlated with a whole host of social BENEFITS. Just compare the living conditions of the average person in Germany (a secular state with high female independence) to the average person in Saudi Arabia (a theocratic monarchy with very little female independence).
I don't think I have ever said this to anyone before:
Go and get slowly roasted to death in an oven!
@ Swede
"The term illegitimacy is not valid in Sweden; all children are legitimate."
The same applies in Ireland. It ought to be general in Europe, but I doubt that is the case.
OMG! I was soooo needing a good reason for a man to throw acid in my face! Now I have one! And I know I deserve it because I have a vagina! Yay! Thanks Vox Popoli, you're the best!
*you fucking suck, asshole*
OH GOD, IT'S VOX AGAIN! QUICK! Someone dump a large bubbling vat of acid on his head and make him get his own dose of his proposal. Him first I say. Then when he falls over with his face melted off MAYBE he will recant his ill wills towards women but even then I doubt it.
Raving misogynistic bastard!
@John_in_Oz
Hypothetical or not, he says that "female independence is strongly correlated with a whole host of social ills." That's fucked up enough for me.
Also, it's not nearly as bad as the rest of his post, but where does Vox get the idea that atheists are utilitarians? I'm an atheist but not a utilitarian.
I feel like someone just took a shit inside my brain.....
I don't have anything else to add, but I'd like to give Tempus a standing ovation.
@OhJohnNo
Most definitely not a Poe. He's as serious as a heart attack. He loathes atheists (especially of the "New" variety), attacks "evolutionists" such as P.Z. Myers, and hate, hate, hates women. He's against their right to vote, thinks they ruined our education system, believes marital rape to be a myth and thinks abortion is murder.
This fucktard can't even spell!
He's obviously trying to project his hatred as God's Will, but he can't muster the sincerity to spell his alias of *Vox Dei* (voice of God).
And, for the record, "Attributed by haters" is *not* correlation. It is merely accusation.
I read the comments.
How many of those Vox-fanboy commenters are Vox's sockpuppets, do you think?
The fact that he's demonstrably wrong about absolutely everything just flies right over his head, too.
@Raised by Horses
Her, too. I'm not a gamer & I'm not up on current pop culture.
I don't even know about the third lady in the first set of photos, I just searched Google Image Search & grabbed a pic of a female "Fighting Champion".
Thank you, Tempus, for that post. Your images sum up some of the feelings we all felt when we read this, I think.
Oh, this was taken out of context, was it? Let me see...
*reads whole page*
No, that's just as bad in context. In fact, it's exactly the same in context, just more verbose.
By the way, does anyone know how to post images in a comment?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
