Quote# 88464

*in response to another poster asking how evolution is a religious belief*

Evolution is the belief that the genetic code is the superhuman power or something like that, either way, atheisim is a religion of the superhuman power of evolution.

I think you're getting real evolution confused with the X-Men.

Last time I checked, evolution happens to all species, in all kingdoms; fungi, plants, animals, etc, not just to humans.

Hurray for my superhu...
Wait a minute. I have superhuman powers? Shit, I'm not doing so hot just on the regular human ones. I manage, though.

How about you crack open a biology textbook, instead of making up bullshit?

When you say this, this should be a sign to yourself that you don't have a clue what you're talking about.

It looks like they're just saying that evolution is a religion because it considers there to be something more powerful than humans. So apparently, the only way to be non-religious is to believe there's nothing more powerful than humanity? Maybe it says something that at least Saliu thinks religion is nothing more than acknowledging you're not the mightiest thing in existence...

Doubting Thomas

or something like that

Obviously you have absolutely no understanding of the Theory of Evolution. Unfortunately, it's the ones who don't understand it who think they have to debate about it.

7/20/2012 8:12:06 AM

Oh My Dog!

The superhuman power of evolution?

Are you saying atheists are X-Men now?

Not possible because the X-Men are not all atheists.

Ow. I know the NationStates forums tend to be a wretched hive of scum and idiocy, but this is...this is at a new level. This quote needs to be bronzed and preserved for future generations.

Indeed, "or something like that." Maybe you should've paid more attention in science class instead of reading X-Men comic books (or something like that).

Indicible

Cut a bit on the X-Men reading, will you?
Or was it Star Trek Voyager? Because you seem to have a rather fictional idea of evolution and atheism.

@Indicible

Well, according to Voyager, the most advanced stage of human evolution is giant newts. Doesn't seem so 'superhuman' to me.

And I'm back from the edge of insanity to which this quote had pushed me. But it was a close one.

If you're going to argue against something, it helps immensely to have a vague understanding of the thing you're arguing about. But like other fundies, I'm sure you feel knowledge is a bad thing since it might introduce some cracks in your worldview.

Except we know how DNA mutates, and there is nothing superhuman about it. American schools must really be abysmal if people are saying this.
