(To Kristin M. Johnson who asked about some anti-GLBT bills "License to bully" and "Don't say gay" and the wawe of suicide among Tennessee teen gays)
As a fitting critical thought question, it could be asked if other identifiable groups that engage in behavior of which ‘others may disapprove’ commit suicide at similar rates? In other words, do prostitutes, pedophiles, polygamists, murders, etc., commit suicide at the same, or similar, rates to homosexual behavior practitioners? If similar rates were hypothetically so (not proven to be the case), do these behavior practitioners commit suicide at a higher rate because someone may have disapproved of their behavior or for other reasons? Should society avoid disapproving of pedophilia, prostitution, murder, etc., because practitioners of those behaviors may commit suicide at higher rates?

The things you list have nothing to do with homosexuality so the comparison is pointless. And the negative reaction to every item in your little speech goes far beyond mere disapproval.
The difference is, there is no reason for homosexuality to be stigmatized, demonized and in some cases, punished by other people or the government. See, prostitution, pedophilia, polygamy and murder are all illegal; homosexuality is not.
The problem with your "thinking", you Tennessee retard, is that unlike prostitution, pedophilia, polygamy, and murder, homosexuals are not doing anything illegal. Specifically with pedophilia and murder there are victims. Not so with homosexuality. so your argument just got shit-canned.
prostitutes, pedophiles, polygamists, murders, etc.
What a perfect description of Tennessee.
Maybe people look down on things like pedophilia, prostitution, and murder because they harm or degrade people, unlike a consensual relationship between two adults of the same gender. Perhaps you would know this if you had even a small amount of intelligence, or perhaps you are just dishonestly comparing homosexuals with the previously mentioned groups in a cheap attempt to make them look bad. Either way, you are a hateful bigot, and the things you do contribute to those suicides, though I'm sure you don't care about the blood on your hands because like every other bigot you're a heartless monster.
@Aspergus
"Hmmm....I wonder why homosexuals are at increased risk for depression and suicide? Perhaps it could have something to do with elected officials comparing them to pedophiles and murderers."
..and sponsoring legislation aiming to make life more difficult.
The two laws which are the main subject of Johnson's lettet are:
-"License to bully" (sponsored by Family Action Council of Tennessee): “creating a hostile educational environment” shall not include the "discomfort and unpleasantness" created in cases where the culprit want to express "unpopular religious, philosophical, or political views" in a school, provided that no property pr students are harmed.
The programs against bullying shall not "make the characteristics of the victim the focus rather than the conduct of the person engaged in harassment, intimidation, or bullying".
In short: turning Tenneessee into a haven for Phelps.
-"Don't say gay": forbide abording of homosexuality in K-8 even if students are affected by LGBT questions.
At last he admits part of responsability in the suicide of gays; he rationalizes by proclaming, in other parts of his letter, their behavoiur bad for society in citing "Dr." Paul Cameron and that, consequently, they are despised by society and, thus, commit suicide.

Don't feel bad. I'm from Virginia; home of Bob McDonnell, Ken Cuccinelli, and Eric Cantor.
Eric Cantor is actually my Representative. I get pissed off at every ignorant middle aged white republican voter in my district whenever I think about that.
In other words, do prostitutes, pedophiles, polygamists, murders, etc., commit suicide at the same, or similar, rates to homosexual behavior practitioners?
The difference is that you can choose to be a prostitute, pedophile, polygamist, or a murderer, and all those things are illegal whereas homosexuality isn't.
And yes, I've heard stories of people wrongly accused of pedophilia committing suicide, and I'm sure most prostitutes aren't the most happy people in the world.
As a fitting critical thought question, it could be asked if others disapproved of christians, should they be left alone to commit suicide at a higher rate than decent people?
Should society avoid disapproving of christianity because practitioners of those behaviors may commit suicide at higher rates?
I don't get why people like to equate homosexuality with things that are not comparable. It's a sexual act between two consenting adults, not a financial transaction, not an act between two non-consenting parties.
I'm uncertain if it's disingenuous or if they really just don't see a difference.
With the very grave difference that homosexuals who engage in consenting adult sex don't harm anyone. Pedophiles and murderers do harm others. Prostitutes, as long as they are in it of their own free will don't really harm anyone either.
Polygamy is condoned by the Bible.
And this man is an elected official.
@Swede , well, prostitutes don't harm anyone unless they're into that.
Sir, there is nothing inherently wrong with prostitution or polyamory, and pedophilia and murder actually harm people in an objective, verifiable way.
As someone who identifies as pansexual and refuses to give a fuck, I'm fine. But other members of the LGBTQ+ community /do/ give a fuck about how other people treat them, and thus, they start hating themselves and eventually some of them kill themselves.
Since queerness harms no one, I have to say, shut your fucking mouth about things you don't understand.
So they deserve to die for being unpopular?
Eat shit, you oxygen thief. It's obvious Mr. Ragan was never bullied in school - in fact, he was very probably one of the biggest bullies around. His behaviour hasn't changed any, if that's the case.
Confused?
