Ah, the old "Sharia Law" tactic: Attempt to institute your own version of Sharia Law, then when your opponent calls you out on it, accuse him/her of being Muslim and wanting actual Sharia Law.

I don't suppose anyone at the DNC ever actually mentioned Sharia, did they?

It's subtle, but you can see it in the subtext.
In his acceptance speech yesterday, didn't Obama say, "I lowered taxes on 95% of Americans and intend to implement Sharia law. 95% of Americans now have lower taxes!"

Republicans SHOULD point out the FACT that this Muslim POTUS, now has the DNC using HIS PEOPLE to pontificate on Sharia Law for America
It's four years on. Where's that Sharia you promised?
Women have been told "their Rights" are threatened by Republicans, and here is the DNC espousing Sharia, where women are used like cattle, and have NO Freedom whatsoever....who is "Anti-Women"?
The party that decided that a group of ancient white men, several of whom had sworn never to have sex, ever, were far better qualified to discuss women's health issues than any woman was? The party that decided to circle the wagons in defense of one of its own when that man said that women rarely, if ever, get pregnant after a rape? The party running on a platform of no abortion for any reason, ever, whose members stridently oppose health care for women or children, and who oppose civil rights laws that protect the rights of women and minorities at any and all cost? The party desperately digging the gulf between the very richest Americans and everyone else deeper and wider? The party that's abandoned sanity and apparently intends to shatter the country like a china plate at a shooting gallery to ensure that Obama is a one-term president? The party that's anti-environment, anti-science, anti-humanity? That party?
Heck, with all they've done, I wonder why women think the GOP is anti-woman? Golly gee, I guess I'll never know.
Alas, we have no Party right now that espouses The Constitution and the Freedom from Government/Political control and oversight
Alas, you are correct--sad as it is, the closest we have to that at present that has any chance at all is the Democratic Party.

Funny, I don't remember anyone in the Democratic party ever mentioning that instituting sharia law would be good for the country. I'm pretty sure that if they had, Fox News would have reported it in-depth.
That being said, I agree with the OP in that Republicans should start running around claiming that Obama is going to institute sharia law. Then they'd look like the idiots they are in spreading an outright lie.

For the billionth time, Obama...is...not...a...Muslim.
Who mentioned Sharia Law? I want names, and where and when it was said.
Republicans not only want to take away women's rights; they want to take away everybody's rights. Who keeps pandering to the Religious Right, and what does the Religious Right want? They want a theocracy. So it's your side that wants something akin to Sharia Law.

Obama is not a fucking Muslim. He smokes, drinks, eats pork and checks out girls. If he's a Muslim, he sucks at it.

I understand protecting the Constitution (and agree with it) but freedom from government oversight is called anarchy. I don't want to live in an anarchy.

The REPUBLICANS have said they inted to THREATEN the rights of WOMEN.
Sharia Laws are fairly similar to OT Laws, actually.

Could we have another section called "Sometimes Right-Wingers say sane things"? I mean, they must occasionally, surely? Because every time I read something like this, I just want to cry. All I see are right-wingers going mental, and I'm sure it warps my view of America as a whole. I don't have the luxury of being exposed to Americans on a daily basis, being British, but it really disturbs me that the most powerful country in the world appears to be 50% lunatic. And logically, I don't really think that can be true...
(I'm sure Brendan Rizzo would have something to say about this but he appears to have vanished from the comments section...)

The American population is only about 32% mental. Except they're really really mental and very motivated. They make sure and vote every single election. Thats why we Americans get George Dumbya Bushs in power.

I must have slept through all of that. Still seems to me that the republicans are anti-"everyone who is not them".
@ gravematter- the number of crazies is less than 50%-the crazies are just very noisy. And desparate-look at the lengths they're going to! It would be funny if it weren't so serious.
Perhaps B Rizzo actually made good on his threat & moved to Europe? Either that or he simply drowned in all those tears of self pity.

You know, I think Sharia is a bit more liberal than some of the things Fundies want coded into the law. Sharia allows stuff like divorce, even if it's the woman who wants it.

@Oh My Dog!: "Who mentioned Sharia Law? I want names, and where and when it was said."
Well, it was CERTAINLY implied! They're EVIL libtards, so of Course they want to Impose Sharia! That's TOTALLY NOT begging the question, because WE ALL know It's implicitly TRUE.

It would be interesting if one took principles of Sharia law, replaced all references to Islam with Christianity and showed them to the Religious Right to see how many would support it.

No, they aren't. An independent Muslim group is holding a prayer in a park nearby. Check your facts.
