Quote# 95820

Ultimately atheism reduces to pure subjectivism because truth is ultimately judged by the human mind. Truth becomes whatever the individual person decides it is. Only Christianity can account for objective truth because there is a transcendent, absolutely rational, unchanging God who is the ultimate standard of truth

Backwards as usual. Religion is the ultimate expression of subjectivism as it ignores evidence contrary to its beliefs and makes up shit to support its beliefs.

Atheists follow the evidence.

... there is a transcendent, absolutely rational, unchanging God...'Unchanging'? God spends half the Old Testament repenting one thing or another.

If one examines rationalism, one is faced with a choice: either reject dialectic socialism or conclude that truth is capable of significance, but only if neotextual cultural theory is valid; otherwise, the task of the writer is social comment. In The Ticket that Exploded, Burroughs affirms rationalism; in The Soft Machine, however, he examines premodern deconceptualism. However, the main theme of the works of Burroughs is a dialectic paradox.

Hey, I see we get our comments from the same site!

"Ultimately atheism reduces to pure subjectivism because truth is ultimately judged by the human mind."

- Which is why Christianity was never broken down into heresies, denominations and sects.

Fundies, on the other hand, are the ultimate standard of horseshit.

8/4/2013 6:55:36 AM

How can it be objective when your god can alter any fact?

8/4/2013 7:16:49 AM

Thinking Allowed

Rational and (the christian) God should not be mentioned in the same sentence.

8/4/2013 8:29:48 AM

Unless, you know, an atheist chooses to follow a different philosophy such as empiricism, or objectivism. You can't decide that people follow a certain belief when you are quickly proven wrong by someone who thinks the opposite is true.

"absolutely rational, unchanging God"

"I'm gonna sacrifice myself to myself to create a loophole in a situation (that I created knowing ahead of time that it would all go to shit...) that doesn't actually need a loophole because I already decreed that simply trying to follow my rules (that I openly admit no-one could manage to follow all of them) and repenting when you failed was enough to get into Heaven...)

You fucking call THAT rational???

As for unchanging... that is one hell of a change, so...

Hi, Mike Warren! You are dumber than a sack full of shit that has been watching a two-day "Jersey Shore" marathon!

Truth becomes whatever the individual person decides it is.

Christianity just substitutes an old book written by a bunch of Middle Easterners for the individual. And that's assuming the book actually tells us what the rational, unchanging "truth" is. In reality, everyone interprets the book to agree with their own previous opinions. That's why we have thousands of different versions of Christianity, all claiming they're right and everyone else isn't.

"Objective truth?" What the fuck does this idiot mean? Does he think nobody has read the Bible? God decides as he sees fit and none of his own laws apply to him. How can a fundie be objective when he worships a being that has absolutely no code of conduct or self-restraint? And he even calls it good and just?

Qazamir McSmarty Britches

Only Christianity can account for objective truth because there is a transcendent, absolutely rational, unchanging God who is the ultimate standard of truth

In order to even begin making this argument wouldn't you have to first prove God's existence is true, and back it up with evidence?

Well, good luck with that.

Subjective and objective: Do you know what these words mean?

8/4/2013 3:29:27 PM

Except no one knows what this god actually wants for sure and these interpretations change at the slightly bit of resistance.

8/4/2013 3:39:58 PM

Subjective perception is subjective. All perception is subjective because all perception is done by subjects. Perception of God is subjective, so regardless of the existence of non-existence of any God, all truth is judged by the human mind, including the truthfulness of God. Therefore, even an objective God's truths are always subjective truths (to humans.)

I meh this. Without the prejudice or any sort of context, it's not fundie, just someone who got in over their heads in philosophy.

there is a transcendent, absolutely rational, unchanging God who is the ultimate standard of truth.

Which explains why there are some 33,000 Protestant denominations. Each of which claims the others are wrong.

"The truth is only judged by human mind. But what I say is the truth is the real truth because shut up"

8/4/2013 7:25:35 PM

That would make it subjective to this god's whims, if that were true. In reality, objective truth is discovered and cross-checked by multiple sources.

8/4/2013 9:43:59 PM

oh is that why god needed to kill his own son to save us from his own rules?
is that why he regrets what he does half the time?

yeah you live in a world where 'truth' is fluid just like the rest of us, only we don't lie about it.

8/4/2013 10:09:27 PM

rubber chicken

Truth ? You can't handle the truth.

Evidence please.

Genesis 6:6
The LORD regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled.

Genesis 6:7
So the LORD said, "I will wipe from the face of the earth the human race I have created--and with them the animals, the birds and the creatures that move along the ground--for I regret that I have made them."

Exodus 32:14
Then the LORD relented and did not bring on his people the disaster he had threatened.

1 Samuel 15:10-11
Then the word of the LORD came to Samuel, saying, "I regret that I have made Saul king, for he has turned back from following Me and has not carried out My commands." And Samuel was distressed and cried out to the LORD all night.

Doubting Thomas

And it's true because God said so. In the bible. Which was written by God.

8/5/2013 7:13:34 AM

Religion has no objective moral truth because all it takes to make an immoral act into a moral one is for the Big Beard to say so, the most subjective morality of all.
