I don't see why NS likes to suppress freedom of speech. He was saying they ought to be shot, he never said he is going to go out and kill Satanists.

Goomy pls

The WBC says that gays must be killed. Of course, they don't personally do it and say the government should, but that doesn't absolve them of saying that. The threat is still present even if it is implied.

Guess what? There's no freedom of speech on the internet. Only as much freedom as the moderators will let you have.

Doubting Thomas

Oh that's so much better. I'm glad he's not going to do the deed himself but rather spur on some unhinged person who might be thinking about doing it.

Well, by that logic, Hitler was an innocent man. He never killed anyone in the death camps; he just said it should be done.

Internet forums don't follow the Constitution. Never have, never will. Probably because random internet forums aren't a branch of the government. But wait, I thought "government is the problem", right?

Mister Spak

The WB should be shot. But I didn't say I was going to do it myself.

Yeah, fomenting violence is much more laudable than performing violence yourself.

"He was saying they ought to be shot, he never said he is going to go out and kill Satanists."

Timothy McVeigh. Eric Robert Rudolph. Scott Roeder.

What happens when Freedom of Thought is allowed to go a little too far.

Suppression of the Freedom of Speech is the least of your problems, frankly. Curious that it's right-wingers/liebertarians who get their knickers in a knot about that, hmmmmm...?! [/SoL-p]

@Goomy pls

A past edict by the former (Labour) Home Secretary ensured the WBC wouldn't (and never will) be allowed into the UK; strange that even the current Conservative HS hasn't overturned that, eh? And of course, Sections 4 & 5 of the Public Order Act ensures a UK equivalent of the WBC will never be allowed to exist.

PROTIP: Just yesterday, leader of UKIP (and former senior member of the Neo-Nazi National Front) Nigel Farage basically bitchslapped & told to STFU - basically denying the right to Freedom of Speech - a UKIP councillor David Sylvester. His crime that warranted such a sanction?: Sylvester openly said that the storms & floods the south/south-west of the UK had experienced in the last month or so were due to the (mid-2014) legalisation of same-sex marriage in the UK, and was God's punishment. [/Pat Robertson, 9/11]

(Linked article from the conservative newspaper "The Daily Fail". Sylvester is an ex-Conservative who defected to UKIP, so that explains a great deal)

As a commentator on Sky News said about that: 'You've just lost half of the UK, Nigel!' Can you say 'Todd Akin', o UKIP? I know you can. The moral of this story, o right-wingers (and certain 'people'; you know who you are): With rights come responsibilities.

You heard Anon-e-moose, the UK is a totalitarian shit-hole and he can't stop licking it.

Goomy pls

I know. It's great that you don't have to deal with those buffoons. Unfortunately, we 'muricans are stuck with them ToT

Didn't the UK also ban Michael Savage and Terry Jones (the evil Terry Jones, not the Monty Python Terry Jones)?

1/21/2014 10:40:52 AM

And yet if anyone said that about Christians, you'd be the first to call for their heads. Also he might not go out and do it but what happens if someone takes his words to heart and kills or shoots the Satanists?

1/21/2014 11:35:25 AM

Freedom of speech doesn't include counseling someone to commit a crime.

Da Rat Bastid

"You heard Anon-e-moose, the UK is a totalitarian shit-hole and he can't stop licking it."

Indeed. *nods in agreement* As much as I despite the Phelps clan and all for which they've ever stood, I'd much rather deal with them than be prohibited from having to deal with them, as Anon-e-moose so proudly advocates. *smh*

As Thomas Jefferson once said (and as I've believed since well before I heard that he'd said it, lest anyone accuse me of not having original thoughts): "I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than those attending too small a degree of it."

I don't see why NS likes to suppress freedom of speech.

'Cos you don't have it? 'Cos saying someone ought to be shot is almost certainly against the rules that people fucking well agree to when they sign up there...? 'Cos Freedom of Speech only protects you from the Government censoring you, and means sweet fuck all with regard to a PRIVATELY OWNED FORUM!!

Take your pick, moron.
