It sounds weird, but if you look at the players involved politically, they are all connected to a feminist think tank in Washington - a network of think tanks, actually. Since, the country has become extremely secularized and the christian right has been marginalized by the mainstream media as kooks, closed minded and ignorant individuals for decades; Feminists, drawing up strategy in Washington, knew if they can roll in the uni-sex wash room issue as part of the sexual orientation, civil rights cultural fight between secularist and christians, that it could sneak uni-sex bathroom mandates in the back pages of of gay rights legislation. Secularist cringe at the thought of agreeing with the christian right and already, almost, by reverse psychology, support and accept the blending of gender boundaries, such as the uni-sex wash rooms at some colleges. This is a further extension of the ramifications of the 1920's post world war I sexual revolution and the 60's hippie era sexual revolution. Desensitization led to secularization of the most heated and controversial biblical topic of modern America - sex. ( But as the uni-sex bathroom is being hailed by LGBT groups, the idea of the uni sex bathroom was put forth first by feminists with no moral agenda except fairness in business. ) Unfortunately, the secularists, liberal and moderate, populations of America out number everyone 3 to 1 in these days of faith that's far and in between. It's an eleborate scheme, but it is driven by hugely successful women seeking to become even more successful and bringing along other women under them.
