Belief in Global warming has reached almost a religious-dogma level with people. People believe in it almost like the way people believe in evolution. It's growing into a religion and that bothers me.

Personally I vehemently disagree with global warming for many reasons but the main reasons are I believe many things go in cycles and I believe that God is in control. Not man. Besides it's not a salvation issue so why do I have to agree with it?

If God is in control, then the notion of "sin" doesn´t exist. In order for sin to exist, there must be some concesion to the human to act for themselves and decide freely if they want to do it or not. Otherwise, you can´t blame them on anything it happens. Global warming is not a belief, for its effects are already there and, whether it´s a natural phenomenon or not, the reality is that the wheather is changing and will have effects in the economy. If God says, rule the earth and all its creatures, such a great power has a great responsibility implied. If we build factories, have internet and medicines who have shaped our lives beyond recognition in comparison to our ancestors, we have to be honest enough to accept the dark side of our actions and don´t put the entire blame then in God saying, "don´t worry man, he´s in control"

Okay, I think some of the hysteria is nothing but hysteria, but the fact that we don't know what kind of impact we might have is reason enough to preach caution.

Yeah, global warming must not be real...which would explain why it's 60+ degress in JANUARY in a state that normally has temperatures in the 40s as HOT WEATHER.

By the same token, we had temperatures that were more than 20 degrees below normal for the past week or so. Arguing from a single data point is useless. One unusually warm winter means nothing. Several in a row are cause for concern (and a few of the last ten or so have been unusually warm, though if memory serves 1996 was one of the coldest winters on record in Minnesota).

By the way, Blessedx4 -- did you know there have been more Category 5 hurricanes in the period from 1991 to 2005 than there were from 1944 to 1990?

Wrong, at least in the Atlantic. See Wikipedia. 1991-2005: 8 category 5 storms 1944-1990: 17 category 5 storms, including 8 in the span from 1950 to 1961. As it happens, Atlantic hurricanes appear to run on about a 50-to-70-year cycle. There were many strong hurricanes in the early 1800s, few in the 1840s, 50s, and 60s, many again until the end of the century, few again until about 1925, many until the late 1960s, then few again until 1995. So we've probably got a good solid 15-20 years of high activity ahead of us. The Eastern Pacific does not have much data at all before 1966 due to lack of satellite observations (and the fact that Eastern Pacific hurricanes don't often hit land) moreover, central pressure estimates were rarely done for the Eastern Pacific before 1988, so data is sparse at best for that time. In the Western Pacific, supertyphoons are commonplace and have been for quite some time (5 of the 14 most active seasons occurred during the 1960s). I don't mean to sound like global warming isn't a big problem. It may well be, and I don't think we can afford to ignore that possibility. But hurricane data doesn't really support the argument at all.
