"so what? people partake in cannibalism. should we accept that as being natural since it is natural to some animals??"
Show me where someone is arguing that homosexuality is right simply because it is natural. It's natural for animals to live without modern hygiene, have sex with anything they want, and sometimes have a lowered survival rate. It's also natural for animals to live in families or groups, nurture and help each other survive, and form bonds between individuals. Some animal characteristics are acceptable in human society, some aren't. We all display animal characteristics, how can we not? When people are called 'animals' in a derogatory way, it is usually because they were required to live to a higher standard (humans) and instead displayed merely animal characteristics.
Now, human knowledge has been a long time in getting anywheres (slowed, without a particle of doubt, by teachings of wise and good men that are twisted into a tool of oppression called religion.) The idea of biblical infallibility is a rather new one, if you are familiar with history. I get some pretty ludicrous accounts of history from religious people, so I'm guessing you aren't. Philosophically, theologically, we have moved on from 2,000 years ago - though some people haven't, obviously. There was no conception of the separation of spirit and matter in those days, of what literal interpretation means, or of human sexuality. With the perception that it's obviously not a choice, and hard scientific evidence that there are differences in brain structure, etc, it's getting harder and harder to argue that there is any benefit to society by persecuting homosexuals, or how God could condemn them for existing the way He obviously intended. Otherwise, God would not be good, and only weasels would bow down to Him, just to save their own hide.
Do you have any idea how many times God told his people to invade villages and kill all the men, and children, and take the women? What was typical for ANY country to do in war, especially in those days? Do you know what lions do when they become the leader of a pride? That's an animal characteristic that was good for us to leave behind. (Though I'm inclined to think that many of the massacres documented in the bible are just made up, to make themselves look tough, probably increased their army morale too.)
