ryan's probably never going to see this, as it’s an old post, but I felt I just had to respond.
its funny to me that all of the atheist, or evolutionist in here, still say things like "oh my god" and "holy" this or that. when trying to cut down someone who has some questions that they think are important.
Why is that funny? It’s part of our language, and people pick it up. Saying “oh, my God!” no more makes you a theist than saying “Holy cow!” makes you a Hindu. Oh, and not all people who accept the Theory of Evolution are atheists. And “evolutionist” is not a word. It’s not a religion; it’s a scientific theory. And why are we making fun of these questions? Because they have been answered. Many times. Plus the guy’s being belligerent.
heres one for you. if we just happened to exist by accident as most evolutionist think, now im not aware of the exact numbers but lets just say 1 million to 1 chance that life just spontaneously appeared, was or became. then lets just assume obviously that the odds were not in our favor. so heres is the question, WHY?. WHY WOULD THERE BE A UNIVERSE, PLANETS, STARS, EVERYTHING! if the odds are that no one would ever exist to see it. then my 2 cents would be that nothing would have to exist, if we didnt exist with it.
We’re talking about billions and billions of years here. After that amount of time, even highly unlikely events can happen. Yes, it’s very unlikely that we exist. But, given the time frame we’re talking about, it’s not surprising that *something* exists. And no, science doesn’t know why there’s something rather than nothing. They’re working on it. But that is not the Theory of Evolution.
now i already know that i will be ridiculed for this post.
No, but many people here will disagree with you.
for one, because this is an old post, but this is for the people that may search for this subject in the future just as i have come across it today. and one more thing this is kind of correlated to the subject, if the are any of you atheist, evolutionist out there who believe in ghost or maybe have been somewhere "haunted" or perhaps seen them personally, id say its time to give up being an atheist because to me it is alot easier to believe its a spirit ( i.e. indicating some sort of after life) rather than an energy left behind, like a hand or finger print as ive read in one of the other forums on the topic of an after life.
Your argument here seems to be “you should believe X because X is easier for me to believe.” Sorry, it doesn’t work that way. And it’s my experience that most atheists don’t believe in ghosts, either.
one more thing, if you guys have ever studied history you would know that christians in the past have be persicuted, tortured, and put to death for their beliefs. so i think that the modern day ridicule for being who i am is fine with me.
Yes, Christians have been persecuted in the past for their beliefs, and that’s unfortunate. But so have people from pretty much every religion in history. It doesn’t make you special, and it doesn’t make you *right*.
by the way some history on me, atheist, agnostic, christian. read both sides of the argument before you open that mouth that maybe should not have "evolved" for most of you.
Read both sides of the argument? Most of us have. Quite a few of us have studied the Bible extensively. The problem is that Creationism doesn’t have a scientific backing. Most arguments for Creationism boil down to these three:
"The Theory of Evolution is false because:
1) My interpretation of the Bible disagrees with it
2) I find it hard to believe that it is true
3) I find it distasteful to think that I’m related to a monkey"
If you have scientific evidence of your view that directly contradicts predictions that evolution makes, we’ll listen.
By the way, I find it interesting that you’re the one who is talking about being “ridiculed” while at the same time being insulting (most of us shouldn’t be able to talk?).
have a good day!
Blessed be.
