Interracial* couples in the last decade? In what backwater area have you been living in the past 40+ years? My Tex/Mex Injun with a touch of European self disproves the 'decade' comment by at least an extra few decades.
(*Proper term is "inter-ethnic" because we are all one race, the human race. Racial terms were an artificial societal invention)

If you really find beastiality as the next logical step here, then your logic is more than a little flawed. And if your grandparents are too racist of homophobic to understand the choices that you are making, their opinions aren't really worth much anyway.

Fundies are always going on and on and on about how any kind of social progress will inevitably lead to legalised bestiality, like it's the most terrible thing they can imagine. What if there was a 'legalise bestiality' movement? The fundies would blow their top, throw all their energy behind opposing it, and when asked about gay rights or the teaching of evolution, would say; "Are you still going on about that? The new duty for Christians is to stop these chicken-humpers getting their way!"
If we can get the fundies to prioritize decoy movements, they won't waste their time with lesser abominations like improving society.
I wouldn't be afraid to tell my grandparents about marrying a non-white man or woman, or even that I had sex with a dog, they could handle that. They would beat my ass, however, if I married an idiot.

I find it ironic that this quote has found it's way onto a "fundy" website, being that I am not even close to a religious fundamentalist. I also find it ironic that the person who put this quote on here is too afraid to let me know who it is, but instead goes through the trouble to create an entirely new facebook under an ex-girlfriend's name to send me the link. Grandparents' approval is NOT the litmus test for behaving properly. Grandparents can do dumb things and be unreasonably intolerant, too. My grandmother drove drunk and hated the Irish. Should we outlaw English American / Irish American marriages based on her opinion?

Both gay and interracial couples involve love between two human beings, who are consenting adults, doing things that harm no-one, is no-one's business, and that is it! If you are afraid to tell your grandparents about that love, it is probably because those grandparents have an archaic, bigotted mindset similar to your own, rather than the love being inherently wrong. But, you can continue to live in five decades in the past if it makes you happy.

As someone who recently moved to France (and concider myself an ex-pat), I can say that yes, interracial and/or gay couples are definately more tolerated here. We haven't exploded or had any sort of consequences for that sort of tolerance, except maybe some backlash that led to the election of Sarkozy who is a lot more sympathetic to your world view.

If you are against multi ethnic couples, make sure you marry someone of the same ethnic group you are.

Also, I've met a number of gay couples. They don't want to destroy the church, there's no conspiracy or wtfever. They just want to be legally recognised as a couple under civil union. Well, interracial marriage and homosexual marriage involve adult humans. You can't say that acceptance of zoophilia is the 'next logical step' since it's not about two adults being kept apart due to prejudice and religious and social stigma. It's an entirely different issue. Which is obvious...
People bring up zoophilia because so many are repulsed by it. You don't see too many people saying that acceptance of objectophilia is the 'next logical step' after gay marriages are embraced by a society, because it just sounds silly.
And there's also the fact that in countries where they allow same-sex marriages that they have yet to legalize human/non-human unions.

Nathan, I'm a grandma. My oldest grandchild is almost 21, so I think I am qualified to speak as a grandparent here.
If my grandchildren are afraid to tell me how they live, chances are they have been shamed into that fear by a narrow-minded bigot such as yourself.
My Reagan-Republican father, an 82-year-old devout Catholic, loves his biracial grandson and gets along famously with his black son-in-law. He loved my late husband, who was Jewish, and approves of my marriage to a Indian man from South Africa. Being old...indeed, even being conservative...doesn't necessarily drain away the capacity to unconditionally love your family. If your grandparents will disown you because you are gay or marry someone of a different ethnicity, then the problem is NOT with your lifestyle choice, but with their stony hearts.
South Africa has legalised gay marriage and it hasn't even made a ripple here: no resultant changes in the society, no deleterious effects of marriage in general, not even a blip on the radar screens of our local newspapers and taboids. It is a non-issue.
