It is God's will that Priests should be celibate. Excuse me, are you questioning the authority of the Holy see? They are a lot wiser and closer to God than you and me, and you should respect them and carefully listen to them instead of questioning the righteous doctrines of the church.

Bullshit. Show me the Bible verse that says this. The whole celibate priest bit was concocted by the Pope (which one escapes me at the moment) in order to keep the coffers of the Church full. Without a family to leave land, money and other possessions to the Church would generally be the sole benefactor of inheritance.

Actually, no.

Let's set the way back machine to before the Vatican decided priests had to be celibate.

Priests were typically the eldest son of the family, and was educated at the seminary. He was allowed to marry, and have children. Upon his father's death, he being the eldest son, would inherit all the family lands and money.

Now, the Vatican came up with a helluva great way to line their pockets, and build up their coffers. Make a proclamation that Priests had to be celibate. They were still the educated eldest sons, and still inherited their fathers money and lands, but upon their death, no children to pass it along to, so "The Church" claimed it. A helluva scam that has made the Catholic Church/Vatican one of the wealthiest 'empires' on earth.

It's stupid comments like yours above that almost make me want to join the circle jerk of assholes, just to point out a few historical facts to you.

- All the Apostles were married

- Celibacy for priests arrived late in the day - about the 1100s.

- Read the history of the inquisition in its various forms and you might begin to understand... It was evil, set up by evil men to control the minds and thoughts of others. It maimed and murdered with impunity. Stick your hand in a fire for 10 seconds and tell me the Inquisition was good an holy then! You are an arch-hypocrite, Suecianus.

I'd love to believe that this is just a poe; the Inquisition is pretty much universally considered to be one of the most evil institutions this planet has ever seen.

On the other hand, another of the most evil institutions this planet has ever seen is Naziism, and there are still plenty of scumbags on the Internet (and in violent real life) who support it openly and vehemently. So I don't see why it can't be that someone else would pine for the "good old days" of the Inquisition, too.

Yeah, I know, it's a Godwin. So what? Substitute Russian communism if you like; you get the same result of some people advocating it, just not as often seen in the West. The totalitarianistic appeal to some people is the core.

Sorry to wake you up. Even the Pope thinks that the Inquisition was a mistake(not as much as the rest of the world, but remember that he asked for pardon in 2000).However, I suggest to the people to moderate the speech. If you look at the thread, they're complaining that sometimes, even if the posts are weird(they recognise that), if you make vitriolic comments and critisise Christianity in the same fashion, we're committing the same mistake as they do. And particularly with this guy, let's gently critisise his garbage. If you look his profile, he's an ignorant 15 years old brat who has recently converted to Catholicism(no matter how much he insists in denying, he converted to a sedevacantists sect)and is both ignorant and his knowledge of English is appaling. Moreover, I suspect that he goes to that Forum because nobody takes him seriously out of the networld. If we treat him with too much cruelty, we'll confirm his already biased opinions.
