Non-rhetorical question here: WHY does no one consider setting up a dialogue with demons? They're regarded as having free will, so it should be possible to get them to do the nice thing (although homosexuality isn't something you can chalk up to supernatural influence to begin with). Why does it always have to be bludgeoning/burning/etc.?
(Note: I'm talking about internal logic here. Whether demons even exist is irrelevant.)

Is Homophobia Associated With Homosexual Arousal?
The authors investigated the role of homosexual arousal in exclusively heterosexual men who admitted negative affect toward homosexual individuals. Participants consisted of a group of homophobic men (n = 35) and a group of nonhomophobic men (n = 29); they were assigned to groups on the basis of their scores on the Index of Homophobia (W. W. Hudson & W. A. Ricketts, 1980). The men were exposed to sexually explicit erotic stimuli consisting of heterosexual, male homosexual, and lesbian videotapes, and changes in penile circumference were monitored. They also completed an Aggression Questionnaire (A. H. Buss & M. Perry, 1992 ). Both groups exhibited increases in penile circumference to the heterosexual and female homosexual videos. Only the homophobic men showed an increase in penile erection to male homosexual stimuli. The groups did not differ in aggression. Homophobia is apparently associated with homosexual arousal that the homophobic individual is either unaware of or denies.

I read recently that there wasn't enough evidence to try the father and the police arrested the boy for "filing a false police report".
While that's possible I can't imagine how the police were able to get evidence that the report was false (which would be necessary to have probable cause to arrest him). That there's no evidence that the father did anything isn't evidence that the boy filed a false police report. There could just as easily simply be no evidence of the incident.
@Skyknight: If fundies didn't have convenient unprovable excuses for their bigotry they would never be able to satisfy their simple hatred and blood lusts, would they? Logic doesn't come into it. Look at the bible. How many times does it cite "god" to excuse and even condone atrocities committed by man? They want it to be moral, so they give an unprovable reason which both excuses and condones their behavior.
So I guess when, in 1998, Matthew Shepard was kidnapped, robbed, beaten, tortured, tied to a fence, and left to die, the guys doing the beating were courageous and morally responsible heroes?
Funny thing is, they were both tried, convicted, and sentenced to two life terms each.
