MAPUTO, Sept 26 (Reuters) - The head of the Catholic church in Mozambique said on Wednesday he believed some European-made condoms were deliberately tainted with the HIV/AIDS virus to kill African people.
"I know of two countries in Europe who are making condoms with (the) virus on purpose, they want to finish with African people as part of their programme to colonise the continent," Archbishop Francisco Chimoio told Reuters.
"If we are not careful we will finish in one century.
"I also know some companies who are manufacturing anti-retroviral drugs already infected with the virus, also in order to finish quickly the African people", Chimoio said.
He declined to name the European countries in question or the source of his allegations.

In fact it is the other way round.
Christian priests telling their believers never ever to use condoms, even if their spouse is infected, helps to spread AIDS.

Two European countries with a nefarious plan to recolonise Africa? It's Britain and France. It's always Britain and France in conspiracy theories of this nature.
And I think you will find that the HIV virus is actually quite fragile outside the body. It's a rather nasty little bugger like that. Won't survive long in the open. Takes years to kill. And almost impossible to get at inside a host.
But ON a condom? No way would it remain viable until t got to people.
Plus... People in Africa are dying of AIDS NOW. Why would anyone need to help that along? Bloody conspiracy theorists.

Yes, I'm really sure that he honestly believes that, and this isn't at all a cynical attempt to exploit superstition and ignorance across an entire continent to further the power of his own organisation there, the way so many have done before. Really.
Since this highly endangers the population and any attempt to curb the disease the law should deal with him. Arrest him, a trial to prove he has no sources for such a claim and jailed for life as a danger to the public.

Unfortunately, many Africans (and other Third World societies)have very good reason to be paranoid about Western medical motives...and although I highly DOUBT that the EU is contaminating condoms with HIV or anything else, the Western world has an uphill battle to fight to gain the trust of these cultures again...the post-Apartheid South Africa denied the HIV-AIDS link for years, dooming large portions of their population to infection, and the efforts to immunize the continent against polio and other communicable diseases have met with heavy resistance throughout the Third World (they often believe it is a sterilization plot...)
I'm nowhere close to saying these government, religious and tribal leaders are doing anything but long-term harm to their own people, but in this case, it's also not PURE paranoia...hell, we've done it to out own people here in the US many times...
On the other hand, perhaps it IS a nefarious plot...by the Bishop to discourage birth control...everyone has an angle, i guess!
this is just the catholic church trying to advance the spread of AIDS by preventing safe sex. and then the missionaries can convert more people as hopelessness takes hold.

Isnt there a rumour going around in Africa that men must have sex with virgins to get rid of AIDS/HIV?
Sadly, that is more than a rumor... It is a wide-held belief, which is why many children as young as toddlers have been gang-raped.
There have been more than a few stories about children being ripped from their mother's arms only a few days after birth.
Though I fully realize this makes my statements as questionable as the OP's, I will not provide any links, as I go out of my way to avoid such stories... While I cannot pretend it does not happen, the articles make my stomach churn too much.
