I've been saying it for years: The Bush Administration and the GOP are secular and bent on spreading secularism and they govern like atheists who want power and try to appeal to the common religious citizen.
Polls have been released showing that Evangelicals and Authentic Christians are not satisfied with the Bush admin., and the GOP. It isn't hard to see why: miniarchic-theocracy has not been established, school prayer has not been mandated, homosexuality is legal, abortion is legal, taxation is high, secularism is rampant, etc. The GOP has done nothing to show that they aren't militant secularists.
The GOP enjoys money and power just like the Democrats.

Well, actually, folks, he does have a point. The GOP has been using him and his ilk for years, right back to the Reagan administration. Ron told a lot of lies, but he told more lies to fundies than anybody. (The guy wasn't even a regular Xtian, FFS). The GOP has courted the votes and donations of the Religious Right for most of the last 40 years, but as even this fuckwit has noticed, failed to deliver (thankfully). They take the votes and the money, and they make suitable mouth noises suggestive of piety, but once the fundies have gone away they laugh at them behind their backs. The GOP doesn't work for God; they work for the MegaCorps. Which is probably just as well.
Here's a hint. Your entire country and its government is secular. It's in the constitution. Secular does not mean atheist. Secular means not affiliated or officially allied with any and all religions. I really do not think that Bush could ever do enough to satisfy these Evangelicals without violating the constitution. Oh, yeah, and the president does not have the power to change the constitution. You might remember from PoliSci 101, checks and balances.
I've been saying it for years: The Bush Administration and the GOP are secular
I guess that strictly speaking you're correct since they are political organisations, not religious groups, but the Bush administration and the Repukelican Party are a hotbed of Born-Again Xians in general...
and bent on spreading secularism
I really need to introduce you to this girl, her name is Reality...
and they govern like atheists who want power and try to appeal to the common religious citizen.
Atheists, or at least honest atheists, don't try to "appeal to the common religious citizen", you dimwit. This kind of strategy is the speciality of political con-artists like Bush. I suggest you open a dictionnary and carefully read the definition of atheism.
Polls have been released showing that Evangelicals and Authentic Christians are not satisfied with the Bush admin., and the GOP.
Duh! By now only the most brainwashed Bushbots still support Dubya.... On a side note, "Authentic Christians"? I had never heard of this denomination.
It isn't hard to see why: miniarchic-theocracy has not been established,
And never will be as long as the current US Constitution stands. Looks like some people actually want to live live in Dumbfuckistan...
school prayer has not been mandated,
First Amendment, bitch!
homosexuality is legal,
Which is a good thing, you homophobic twat. Not that the situation couldn't be further ameliorated.
abortion is legal,
Despite the Bush administration's efforts: see their attempt to ban what they call "Partial-Birth Abortion ", a particularly stupid move since this kind of late-term abortion, aside from representing only a minute fraction of abortions (0.17%, to be precise), is used mainly when the life or health of the mother is seriously menaced or when the foetus is diagnosed with a serious abnormality (hydrocephalus, for example) or flat out not viable. Fortunately, the ban has already been ruled inconstitutionnal by several states and probably will get struck down.
taxation is high,
Except for all the tax cuts Bush gave to the obscenely rich, you mean?
secularism is rampant, etc.
How about defining what you mean by "secularism" and providing evidence to support your claims?
The GOP has done nothing to show that they aren't militant secularists.
Not to defend the Repukelicans, but just because I don't actively show that I'm not an ET from the Andromeda nebula doesn't mean I'm an alien masquerading as an human...
The GOP enjoys money and power just like the Democrats."
Well, duh! It's the nature of the political beast to enjoy money and power (though I still suspect Repukes to be more corrupt/money-hungry)
"I've been saying it for years: The Bush Administration and the GOP are secular and bent on spreading secularism and they govern like atheists who want power and try to appeal to the common religious citizen."
That's almost what I have been saying for years: "The Bush Administration and the GOP SHOULD be secular, but they are bent on spreading bad policy and they govern like assholes who want power and try to appeal to the deluded religious citizens."
"Polls have been released showing that Evangelicals and Authentic Christians are not satisfied with the Bush admin., and the GOP."
Evangelicals are not authentic Christians?
"It isn't hard to see why: miniarchic-theocracy has not been established, school prayer has not been mandated, homosexuality is legal, abortion is legal, taxation is high, secularism is rampant, etc."
Other than the high taxes, you make the Bush administration sound almost enlightened. Of course, when one adds in the wars and the illtreatment of the non-rich, the Bush administrations true colors become clearer.
"The GOP has done nothing to show that they aren't militant secularists."
How 'bout Jesus day or the national day of prayer?
"The GOP enjoys money and power just like the Democrats."
I'm no great fan of the Democrats either, but I'd have to say that the current Republican administration is falling down drunk on money and power.
miniarchic-theocracy has not been established, school prayer has not been mandated, homosexuality is legal, abortion is legal, taxation is high, secularism is rampant, etc.
...and this is bad why , precisely?
The Watcher: While it's a little hard to be sure what he means by this, the poster in question refers to wanting the GOP to establish a "miniarchic-theocracy." I don't know what he means by "miniarchic" (rule by short people?), but saying that he wants ANY kind of "theocracy" shows that his ideal would involve our absolute rule by a Christian Taliban. THAT is how fundie he wants it to be!

"The GOP enjoys money and power just like the Democrats."
Oh, my stars and bloomers! Say it isn't so, Toto! Auntie Em! Auntie Em! We have to go back to Oz! The Republikans have revealed that they're just another political party, not the future Taliban of Amerika! Heavens to Betsy!
Hi,
I am from Argentina (so, please forgive my English), and every little thing the USA goverment does has very big consecuences here. So when I read this messages, and I wonder what a theocrathic goverment in the USA would mean for us, I am really scared
Hopefully, there are enough people like the regulars of this site in the USA to prevent that...
Alternative bizarro universe seconded. However, I think this guy hasn´t interpreted properly the situation. Whereas it´s true that most conservative Christians are let down by Bush now, it´s true that the core reason for that it´s that they supported him in the past and now they have lost their face with Iraq, Foley and Haggard, to name a few things. That´s all, regardless of the fact that this guy doesn´t know propperly how the system works(and many people don´t, believe me), he rather wants to deny reality than accept that they committed a mistake.
miniarchic-theocracy has not been established, school prayer has not been mandated, homosexuality is legal
The fact that anyone could see any of those three as a bad thing scares me.
The Republicans aren't fundie enough for you?
miniarchic-theocracy has not been established,
Because our country was intended to be a representative democracy.
school prayer has not been mandated,
Because not all Americans are Christians.
homosexuality is legal,
Because obviously, a person being able to choose who they love is a lie from the devil.
abortion is legal,
Because women kicking themselves in the stomach is pretty harmful.
taxation is high,
Because of the war in Iraq.
secularism is rampant, etc
Because some people actually realize that not everything comes from magical sky Jebus.
Translation: "Whaaaa, the GOP has not thrown the Constitution out the window, and insist on following the laws! Whaaaaa!"
If Bush is not pro-religious enough for you, you'd better move to Saudi Arabia, honey. School prayer is probably mandatory, homosexuals are exectuted, abortion is also illegal, and there is no secularism, whatsoever. I don't know about taxation, though... You're just going to have to follow a different holy book, but it's the same deity, more or less.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
