Medical professionals emphasize that they do not know what causes mental illness.[8] Accordingly, they cannot rule out that liberal indoctrination is a contributing factor.
Teaching children to accept and believe things that are demonstrably false cannot help mental health. Included in this category are the liberal teachings in school that:
*lying about the truth, causing belief in falsehoods or encouraging conduct disorders[9]
*there are no real differences between boys and girls
humans are just another type of animal
*all there is is what you see
*conversely, that an unproven 'unconscious' excuses evil actions
*self-inflicted death can somehow be good
*denying self-defense, mentally and physically
*denying the ability to control sexual desires; promoting lifestyles that lead to mental illness
*insisting on an illogical and unjustified "wall of separation of church and state"; classroom prayer would promote mental stability

"Accordingly, they cannot rule out that liberal indoctrination is a contributing factor."
Penn and Teller did an *excellent* exposee or three on this very thing. There are entire therapy groups (making lots and lots of GREEN money) dedicated to people who feel guilty about the fact that they exist on this otherwise utopian blue/green planet, without whom the world would be a paradise.
She (one such therapist) gives them a rock from her driveway (which she calls a river stone) and has them reconnect with the earth by feeling it in their pockets to alleviate their human stain.
Yes, environmentalist wackos are as religious as any fundie, and a lot more funny to learn about.
1. There is very little difference in the state of mind of a 'mad' person and a person who believes in God. The question is if your imaginary friend is seeing other people or not?
2. There are no "real" differences between boys and girls apart from the cultural roles we assign them.
3. We are an ape. I can point out your mating dance if you want?
4. No, all there is, is what you perceive.
5. You have not suffered. Dying with dignity is something we all deserve.
6. We deny violence, not self defence.
7. Most crazy people are straight. Are you saying we should ban straight marriage?
8. No, classroom prayer would cause divisions on the basis of faith within the class and produce a "us vs. them" mentality.
"Medical professionals emphasize that they do not know what causes mental illness."
What? They know quite well what causes *some* mental illnesses. Vague and useless assertion.
"Accordingly, they cannot rule out that liberal indoctrination is a contributing factor."
Accordingly, they cannot rule out that peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are a contributing factor. Or dachshund dandruff, or having red hair, or...
And SomeoneAwful at #741605... Poppycock. Religious fundies are far more numerous, widespread, influential and dangerous than environmental whackos. And environmentalism, at its root, is at least based in facts, and important ones. You can usually find crazy or dishonest extremist versions of even the most sensible or laudable positions. Your equation of the two examples is specious.
Ahahahahahahahaha, what the fuck?
If anything, liberal "teachings" have led to more effective and humane treatments for mental illness. Once upon a time, when you nuts were in charge of things, the mentally ill were treated like absolute crap. Instead of being diagnosed and treated, they'd be locked away and left to rot. This forced many to hide their conditions, or have their families hide it for them if they were rich enough. On top of that, many conditions that we now understand as being mental illnesses were originally considered 'character flaws' -- the depressed were written off as being lazy and whiny, people with personality disorders were just "assholes", and so on.
With the increase in understanding of diseases of the mind, it's now much more likely that someone's illness is going to be diagnosed, which is why the number of people with mental illnesses appears to be going up. In reality, there were just as many crazy people back then as there are now -- the only difference is that we now know how to recognize mental illness.
Plus, we all know that religion is the worst way to ensure mental stability. Human beings + religion = batshit insanity.

Oh, really? My doctor thinks my OCD and subsequent depression was caused by the imbalance of chemicals in my brain. (Which I apologize for mentioning again on this board, but it is relevant, I swear! : ) )
I take medication every day now to help me with that. Not something I like to have to do, but I don't feel bad admitting it if it makes other people here feel better about taking their own medications, because it is NOT THEIR FAULT, NOR "LIBERALS."
I doubt the person(s) who wrote this could find one credible professional who thinks that things like School Prayer cause the chemical imbalances that lead to mental illness.
So, on behalf of my OCD, FUCK YOU!
Yup! Liberal teachings cause mental illness! Let's stick to Socialist teachings.
* The truth is that we don't know if there are any gods, so we should refrain from believing in any until we have established that they are not all falsehoods.
* The biggest difference between boys and girls are between their legs. As long as these parts are not used, boys and girls are fairly similar.
* Homo sapiens sapiens is an animal species in the family of Great Apes. There is nothing "just" about it. "Bananas are just another type of herbs" or "Dogs are just another type of wolves" make as much sense.
* There are an almost infinite number of things that we can't see, out in the Universe, down in the bottoms of the oceans, inside our bodies.
* Huh? Do you mean subconscious? It can only EXPLAIN actions, not excuse them.
* If every second of every minute of every hour of every day causes you unbearable pain, and it will only get worse until you die, then you might want to end it sooner, rather than later.
* Attack is not the best self-defense, stupid.
* You are always responsible for your own actions, even sexual ones. You should always make absolutely sure that all participants are eager and willing and that everyone is an adult. I'd say that the lifestyle of only making yourself richer, only thinking about yourself, will probably lead to mental illness, sooner or later.
* OK, everyone must now pray to Quetzalcoatl before each class. Stop whining, Andy; you asked for it!
So, from now on, only Socialist teaching are allowed. Making sure that EVERYONE has a decent life promotes mental stability.
Again, stop whining Andy; you're the one who started it!
Then I guess you're not worried in the slightest about the implementation of 'Obamacare', o Andy Schaftafly? Why should you?
No medical insurance for you, natch? No Need, of course. Because a prayer a day should keep the doctor away, amirite?! [/hyper-paradox]
Psychology is part of Medicine (seeing as Psychologists/Psychiatrists with the relevant degrees can also prescribe the necessary meds to patients). One word: Neuro psychology.
Let's see how far you can go without 'Materialism'; Dentistry, and the science involved in such. PROTIP: Hugo Boss died of a tooth abscess - ultra-excruciating when you're already healthy , dental-wise [/That torture scene in "Marathon Man"], so as a way to go, good luck with that in the realm of the Cenobites , pal - and he was as Material istic as you can get. [/Rarity] [/Irony]
...ergo, as per Universal Healthcare, dentistry is a vital part of such (healthy mouth = healthy body & thus Body Politic as a whole). You're about as likely to find a Cuban with bad teeth as say... hen's teeth. And Cuba spends as much on Healthcare as it does on Defence, o Andy Schaftafly. Communist = Materialist . [/UK's NHS: 1948. Cuban Revolution: 1953 ]
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
