Sermon 27: Easter Sermon (2018)
By Bro. Steven R.
Deuteronomy 18:9-14 says "When thou art come into the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch. Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord: and because of these abominations the Lord thy God doth drive them out from before thee. Thou shalt be perfect with the Lord thy God. For these nations, which thou shalt possess, hearkened unto observers of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, the Lord thy God hath not suffered thee so to do."
Today, many who claim to be Christians are celebrating "Easter" otherwise rebranded as "Resurrection Sunday" by some who are slightly more aware. Idols such as crucifixes and also something about egg hunting and gluttony as well as other such sinful behaviors. "Easter" has its roots in ancient pagan fertility rituals, hence the presence of eggs in the secular holiday co-opted by unwitting Christians who simply do not understand.
Eostre, otherwise known as the goddess of spring, is the source in which Easter comes to being. She is the character that you are celebrating when you search for those eggs or eat ham and drink booze and eat candy and having a good old time! You simply are NOT acknowledging that you are following the ways of the world and not God's truthful ways as spelled out in this passage! Even in the Episcopal "Church" they have all kinds of balloons and wine and candy like it's some frat boy party at Michigan State or something!
Look, there isn't anything wrong with holy fun as long as it's in line with what's in Scripture and doesn't consist of idolatry or pagan rituals that mock our Risen Lord Jesus Christ! NO MORE PAGANISM!!!!!!!
