What is civilization? There are many definitions of “civilization”, but IMO the most important definition of civilization is controlling female behavior, all of which acts against civilization. Civilization was created as soon as ways of controlling female behavior were developed. Before civilization men had to constantly deal with female behavior so they never had the time to develop science, technology, etc. When female behavior was put under control, then men didn’t have to spend so much time worry about women. Men could spend time inventing agriculture and later other forms of science and technology. Keeping women and their destructive behavior under control is the key to civilization.

Civilisation was implanted to organising humankind (I refrain from using Man with a capital M for obvious reasons!) by some means of laws or otherwise. Community inevitably engenders restraint that includes the ideally archaic notion that men could legitimately take women as property. It was still, admit it or not, part of certain patriarchal societies.
That being said,
Women likely invented weaving, pottery, did the cave-paintings & yes, invented agriculture! Without women, there would be no civilization. Now, how do you like them apples, Omega Virgin?

But, for chronology, Agriculture led to civilization, not the reverse. Hunters-Gatherers were not in numbers big enough to be more than tribes.

Sure, that's what it was. I'm sure it had nothing to do with having to chase big game around the plains/savannah and not being able to settle down in one place and have the leisure time to think about things beyond survival. No, it was because women kept buying shoes and designer loincloths. THAT'S what prevented us from developing science and technology. And now that we have feminism and women are allowed to behave the way they want, we haven't developed any new technologies since the 60s. I'm writing this post via a rotary phone.

As someone who's field of study is the earliest urbanized civilizations, I can't put into words exactly how badly you're wrong. I'm also not going to waste my time attempting to do so, because you'll never read this.
I was going to point out that it was probably women who invented agriculture, but Spuki beat me to it.
For that matter, I wouldn't be suprised if it turned out that women were the ones who befriended kitties =^.^=

Historians are fairly convinced that women invented agriculture. Men were mostly the hunters and women the gatherers. The women realized that they could collect seeds and plant them near to their home. Hay-presto; agriculture!
Yup, Afghanistan and Iraq (with their almost absolute control over all aspects of the lives of women) are so much more civilized and prosperous than Holland or Sweden (where women are free to behave as destructive as they want). Afghanistan has several Nobel prize winners every year, in contrast with those uncivilized countries in Europe where men and women are (more or less) equal, who never win a single Nobel prize. Oh, wait...
