One of the most prevalent arguments surrounding the issue of homosexuality is over whether or not homosexuals are "born this way." Much ink has been spilled on this topic, and I've seen many Christians absolutely go to the mat trying to prove that same-sex attraction is not an inborn trait. That's a mistake. It's a mistake because the entire discussion is pointless. Really.

What a beauiful Catch-22!
If same-sex attraction is genetic , then it's a genetically-produced temptation to sin. It must be resisted.
In your theology, God created all things, including all genomes.
We thus should conclude this "genetically-produced temptation to sin"is God's will.
This points to a certain thing I'm afraid of: "If it's not genetic, people can easily become straight and if it is genetic, there ought to be some sort of gene terapy that can fix it, right?"
I think pro-gay rights people should stay away from homosexual gene argument and use something better instead.
I agree with him, as far as that it is completely irrelevant if sexual orientation is genetic or a choice. As long as it harms no one there is no reason to discriminate against it.
If you think that something is a sin, just don’t do it yourself. Keep your nose out of other people’s business.
So, basically, your idea is that God tells people not to do things, that they'll go to hell if they do, and then designs them so that they really, REALLY want to do them.
Boy, is your God a complete and total asshole.

--If you haven't applied for relief from combat duty on grounds of your own insanity, you have to stay on combat duty and fly bombing missions. (Which you have to be CRAZY to do after all those close calls you've had!)
--If you apply for relief from combat duty on grounds of your own insanity, that proves you're NOT insane. Because had you really been insane, you wouldn't have cared about your own safety and wouldn't have applied for relief! So you have to stay on combat duty and fly bombing missions. (Which you have to be CRAZY to do after all those close calls you've had!)
If same-sex attraction is genetic, then the element of free will is removed. This means that, if homosexuality is a sin while there is no element of free will, humans are not created in the image of God. And if humans are not created in the image of God, the point of your religion vanishes.
Or, whether or not same-sex attraction is genetic, just go with where your sexuality takes you and don't worry about what the crazy fundie Christians think is sin or not.
My question is why would God make people gay and then get mad at them for having gay sex? Sounds like some kind of twisted, omnipotent tyrant.
@Grimsoncrow
You know, after reading few of the assholes quoted here, I seriously believe they abandoning their kid early on and giving him/her a chance for a normal, non-abusive family might be a lesser evil here.
You`re completly right in the second half though, but then, it`s not as if they don`t try to kill them as soon as they can even now(I suspect most people in these countries wouldn`t have the knowledge, let alone funds to perform, what will probably be rather costly endavour).
If tallness is genetic, then it's a genetically-produced temptation to sin. It must be resisted.
If light skin is genetic, it's a genetically-produced temptation to sin. It must be resisted.
You can as easily resist being attracted to a person, as you can resist being hungry, asshole!
I actually agree with the bastard on one point: The debate is pointless.
Whether it's genetic or a choice, it ain't none of yo' business.
Other sins we must resist include left-handedness, obesity (gluttony), clinical depression (acedia), imagination, and curiosity.
@Skide :
I despise myself for even saying this, but maybe when they reach puberty, they will have a realistic understanding of their society's realities,and therefore a chance to hide their horrible "condition" and avoid lynch mobs...
Confused?
