I'm glad I'm pro-life so I'm not judged on this after more research is done. I honestly believe they have abortion because it's convenient. I think it promotes nothing but irresponsibility for one's actions. It only compounds it with the worst of actions. The more they do it, the more used to it and numb they become to what's happening in this society. Sad, really. No one has a conscience anymore.

No matter where the stem cells are taken from, fundies will ALWAYS claim they are coming from aborted fetuses. It wasn't long ago when I read about a new method from extracting them from nearly anything in human body (google for "extracting stem cells" or something should bring useful links), but NO, fundies are still stuck on the "aborted fetuses" stage and they will probably stay there forever, thus trying to ban SC research everywhere.
Stem cells are cells that haven't activated their epigenetic growth markers yet. All the cells in a persons body contain the exact same DNA, it's the epigenetic marker that makes a cell turn into muscle tissue or bone or liver tissue.
If the cells are from heads they're markers have already activated making them cells for brain, bone, dura matter and other various parts of the head and therefore NOT STEM CELLS.
Once the fertilized egg is a few days past the blastocyst stage you cannot harvest stem cells from it. It's impossible to get any stem cells from a pregnancy more than 2 weeks in.
The majority of stem cells are taken from in-vitro fertilization. due to the lower success rate of in-vitro fertility doctors usually try to fertilize several egg cells at once. If too many accept the sperm the leftovers are frozen and cultivated for stem cells at a later time.
However, you will be judged on lying.

I'm pro-choice because I have a conscience. I feel it is immoral for me to tell over women what to do with their bodies, regardless of my personal feelings about abortion. And for the record, I'm actually not a big fan of abortion -- I just don't think it's my place to go around judging others when the only person I should be able to make that choice (whether or not to have an abortion) for is myself.
A far as stem cell research goes, don't even try to make that about abortion. Anyone who has a conscience and is informed about the issues is for stem cell research. If it pans out, it has the potential to not only improve millions of lives everywhere, but also save the lives millions more from all kinds of horrible genetic diseases. Even if the research ultimately goes no where, it's better to have tried and failed than it is to just throw in the towel and write off all those millions of people as incurable. I know a 14-year-old who has a severe form of SMA, which is a type of muscular dystrophy. Call me cold, but I care about her right to live a hell of a lot more than I do about the imaginary rights of an insentient embryo.

Do these assholes not understand that stem cell research could potentially relieve the suffering of those who have actually been born? Except of course, they don't actually care about suffering; it's only their ideology that's important to them.
And abortion isn't 'horrendous'; it's a necessary option. The idea that it's always wrong and that women just do it for fun or convenience is indeed fundie. People who believe that are unable to comprehend nuance; it's all black and white to them.

I think that anyone who is seriously against stem cell research should forever be banned from receiving medical treatment of any kind.
The fact that we possibly have at our disposal the opportunity to cure so many maladies that would enrich the lives of those people WHO ARE ACTUALLY ALIVE might also be considered a pro-life position.

Embryonic sources do, and they have about as much in common with a human being as colonial bacteria do, physically. They're a byproduct of IVF, you idiot. Waste material. Stem cells are harvested from a blastocyst that has approximately 150 cells. For comparisons sake, the brain of a fly has 100,000 cells. There is nothing remotely human about a blastocyst. The fact that these fucking people are more sympathetic to a blastocyst than towards a child that might haev a spinal cord injury cured through stem cell research shows the true problem with religion. It warps ones sense of morality. It convinces you that god wants children to continue to suffer becuase there is a soul in a blastocyst or it convinces you that it is moral to fly airplanes full of innocent people into building with more innocent people. Same fucking thing.
