Well, which one will it be? The free market isn't going to just give those up. There's a lot of money in porn, which is exactly what the free market is about. However, according to the Web of Knowledge (a database of scholarly articles), he has never once been published in a peer-reviewed journal. Nobody could get tenure in the social sciences without being published at least a few times.

What this quote says to me is that conservatives are whining because the country is moving progressively toward the center and isn't the ultra-conservative Christian theocracy that right-wingers wish they could turn the country into.
The right has been in near total control for over thirty years, and THEY are the ones who have gotten nearly everything they wanted: Near total control of the media, with a deregulated, 24/7 Fox lie machine, out-of control spending, left for yet another Democratic preident to clean up, the beginnings of a privatized military, deregulated banking that created worldwide economic chaos, middle class wages that have been frozen since 1978, zero taxes for corporations and billionaires, a destroyed environment, and murdered all but one doctor who would provide life-saving, medically-necessary late-term abortions (and scared the rest of them to the point no others will take on the job). If the left had its way, then fundies would not be nearly as common as they are. Just saying. The current political situation in America seems to be conservatives getting their way more often than not. Witness the fact that there is still no universal healthcare and gay marriage is still illegal in more than half the country, not to mention the relatively-meteoric rise of the Tea Party movement. Democrats in America are probably the most impotent major political party in the world. (Which is ironic because Democrats actually outnumber Republicans.)

The American right, by failing to suspend the Constitution (a damn piece of paper) and institute an authoritarian government, has betrayed the Founding Fathers and everything America stands for.
