"Jesus told us his kingdom is not of this world."
...then, to paraphrase Capt. John Sheridan (Bruce Boxleitner) in "Babylon 5", when finally calling out the Vorlons & Shadows about the point of their use of the 'Younger Races' to settle what is nothing more than a petty philosophical argument (Order vs, Chaos: which is right?):
'Then get the hell off our world. ALL of you!'
“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?” (2 Corinthians 6:14)
'Understanding is a three-edged sword'
-Kosh
Sheridan finally worked out the meaning behind the Vorlon ambassador Kosh's cryptic message: Order (Vorlons; 'Good'), Chaos (Shadows; 'Evil'), and the Truth. And that truth being that the 'Younger Races' (Humans, Minbari, Centauri, Narn et al) could figure things out for themselves.
Humiliated like this, the Vorlons & Shadows finally left this galaxy, leaving the 'Younger Races' alone. Thus the 'Third Age of Mankind'.
And like those alien 'First Ones', we no longer have need of dogmatic 'religion'. Least of all in our political systems
The only alternative being hyper-theocracies. Just like those certain areas in Syria & Iraq right now. [/ISIS]
At least the Minbari - consisting of three different but equal castes: 'Warrior', 'Worker' and 'Religious' - had a system of governance called the 'Grey Council', consisting of three representatives of those three castes: nine in total, thus no one caste could exert undue control over the other. A form of Separation of Church & State.
But at least the followers of that 'Church' - the 'Religious' caste - as part of it's teachings, spent at least a year studying humour, including that of humans; no doubt part of which was Monty Python. Thus they'd know about Doug Piranha, and his use of Sarcasm. Also Metaphor, Bathos, Puns, Parody, Litotes Satire and... Irony.
Useful elements in Interpretation I'm sure you'd agree, Dave.
Secular Freedom or ISIS-esque anti-Christian tyranny. Just like Doug Piranha's brother Dinsdale choosing to either nail your head to the floor or screwing your pelvis to a cake stand. >:D
