I do not like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don't think Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians. I think people who believe in God are sick and tired of getting pushed around, period. I have no idea where the concept came from that America is an explicitly atheist country. I can't find it in the Constitution and I don't like it being shoved down my throat.

America is not an explicitly atheist country, and no one ever said it was.
It is, however, an explicitly secular country, and the Constitution does indeed say so.
There's a difference between atheistic and secular, though I wouldn't expect a fundy to be able to grasp it.
Sounds like someone "Won Ben Stein's Sanity".
What the fuck? I have no idea where you are getting your shit from. No one says that, and if they are they are obviously wrong. And all you've done is taken the atheists complaint and rewritten it to fit your fucktarded viewpoint on a six day creation. Weren't you supposed to be smart, or something?
Rubyfruit: "...And I looked up to Ben Stein.
I feel sick now."
Have you seen the trailer to his new film yet? It's hilarious (Godwin at 2:47) - HINT: look closely at the interview snippet with Dawkins at the end, especially the way how it's edited.
Yeah, I used to think Ben Stein was smart and admirable, too.
He thinks secularism is being 'shoved down his throat?' Seriously?
Nothing you can do about it. In fact I'm going to persecute you right now :
YOU ARE WRONG ABOUT SOMETHING, BEN
There. Now you have been totally persecuted.
I submitted this quote and like many of you I am pretty upset about it. I liked Ben Stein a lot. After hearing about that movie that he's going to be in, and reading shit like this, I am beginning to wonder what has happened to him. It's not so much that he's religious but he's actually acting like an idiot. Does anyone (with an IQ over 9) actually believe that atheism is being shoved down their throats? Especially in this country when religiosity is being inserted into our daily lives more and more by the media and the fundies with soapboxes? Arrgh, sorry, I'm super pissed.
Fine, we'll be explicitly Buddhist and offend everybody else.
They're doing their best, man.
I challenge Ben to find anyone, ANYONE in any kind of power who wants America to become an "explicitly atheist country." If a teacher doesn't preach about Jebus every 5 minutes that doesn't make her lessons atheist. An atheist teacher would tell her class that there is no God, and no school district in the country pulls shit like that.
Hell, I AM an atheist, and I don't want our country to become atheist. Nobody does. We just don't want the government to shove nativity scenes and outdated "family values" down our throats.
Ben Stein -- Stop sucking the cock of your Republican masters long enough to hear this: "Theocrazies don't like Jews." They only use you long enough to dig your own fucking grave. Theocratic dumbasses would have your ass six feet under for daring to be a Jew in a "Christian" land. So fuck off, mmkay? For your good and mine.
Rich, right-wing republican, never probably faced a moment of real persecution in his life playing the Jewish guilt card to push a lie about the Constitution(a totally secular document) to less-than-bright fundies to forward the political agenda for his morally bankrupt party of crooks and war-profiteers by creating a sham issue of persecution where none exists. It shames both his Jewish forbears who died in Nazi prisons and Christian martyrs suffering for their beliefs in TRUE persecution around the world for him to do this pandering for his political party.
Dammit, I can't believe it's only been like three months since I thought of Ben Stein as being an okay kind of guy. It's not explicitly atheist, Ben, it's explicitly secular, and if the fundies get their way, you, as a Jew, are going to be one of the first to get the shaft.
You're right that America isn't specifically an athiest country but it isn't a specifically Judeo-Christian country either.
The First Amendment implies that this country was not based on ANY specific religion.
Mr.Stein you have proved yourself well to be just another fucking stupid ass fundie.America is a secular nation. Not a christian nation, not a jewish nation, but a secular nation. No one has ever said it was an atheist nation,it's just more fundie bullshit.Atheists do not shove jack shit down your throat you guys are the ones making lying propaganda and going door to door to "bring the light of Jesus into my life"to quote the fundie who just left my house.I'm sick and tired of being pushed around for being an atheist my patience and sympathy for you and your ilk ran out a long time ago.
Lying for Jesus(or god in your case)is still lying so fuck you.
"I do not like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don't think Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians"
Good, good. Mayhaps you're starting to get it. Come on, take that final leap of logic...
"I think people who believe in God are sick and tired of getting pushed around, period. I have no idea where the concept came from that America is an explicitly atheist country."
Arse. You FAIL. I was hoping you'd also say that Atheists don't like being pushed around for being Atheists too.
"I can't find it in the Constitution and I don't like it being shoved down my throat."
And therein lies the point. Or not. Why not try the Bible, specifically Romans 13:1-7. Then consider why Separation of Church and State is a part of the Constitution. Then you'll realise why so many people don't like your beliefs shoved down their throats.
Ergo, Obama in the White House. QED.
I find this commentary right to the point. Leave God out of the equation of life and he leaves us out. I do not think reading the Bible, regardless of where, hurts anyone unless maybe they have a fear of the truth. A prayer, what can it hurt, again unless we have a fear that it might be heard by a being that we don't believe in. I do believe this uproar of Religion is out of fear for some and if you get it off the airways, out of the schools, out of the political arena they are not reminded and feel safe. What a pity.
Secular is not the same thing as atheist. Plus believers are not pushed around as much as others who believe differently are expressing themselves and don't care what you think
I used to think he was extremely intelligent. Whatever happened?
Confused?
