[In reply to a tweet about white people not having a history of being treated poorly and an entire thread about systematic racism]

There were White slaves. Irish people were slaves and were even seen as replaceable and of less value than Black people. For a long time, Italians weren’t even considered White!

Circus clowns are believed to have their origins in xenophobic caricatures of Irish people given their albino white makeup, often red wigs, and red noses that suggest a drunken state.

Did this guy get handed a verbal-only version of SCP-572 or what :D? Seriously, from what I gathered looking at the thread, I’m about 50% convinced that it’s some right wing bait. It’s so stereotypical of what right wingers think the left thinks like, it’s exactly the stuff wingnuts (wet) dream about finding in the wild, so they can score a cheap win… and then CKR inserts himself into the conversation, you can just feel the conviction and self-assurance he has since he knows that this is the kind of stuff his ilk make for quick wins… and manages to make himself clearly the stupidest person there with just a single sentence.
I’m actually surprised. I mean, I’ve recently been invited to a visual novel project as a writer and, for the first few days after accepting, I had the crazy idea of sneaking in a shout-out to our friend there somewhere in the later chapters. Specifically, it would be in the form of a highly overconfident armour-wearing character attacking the protagonists, only to be extremely quickly, completely effortlessly, and more than a bit humiliatingly dealt with by the MC.
Of course, I very quickly shelved the idea. The people behind the project are pretty strict about how it’s supposed to look, there’s no way it would have fit either the tone or the setting, and it would’ve simply been a stupid joke that would stick out in the narrative like a sore thumb… but, seeing stuff like this makes me think I might’ve been just a bit too quick to throw the idea out…
Does it bother you at all that your retort is to point out that the ones treating the white people like subhuman shit were more white people? With the further "justification" of them not being white (read advantageously positioned) enough to actually count? Caveats that just further underscore the fundamental difference in how human life is viewed undermining you even further?
Which really does nothing to invalidate the grievances of others for being treated quite notably worse than the example you quite pointedly presented in a knowingly misleading, downright fictionalized manner (yet still fell short of drawing proper parity) and even less to validate your own conceit that this makes you some kind of bullied victim for the conversation or indeed the acknowledgement of it as recorded factual history to exist at all.

The most ancient clowns have been found in the Fifth Dynasty of Egypt, around 2400 BC

The clown character developed out of the zanni rustic fool characters of the early modern commedia dell'arte
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commedia_dell%27arte
Commedia dell'arte; lit. 'comedy of the profession') was an early form of professional theatre, originating in Italy , that was popular throughout Europe between the 16th and 18th centuries
An Irish person - Slaine mac Roth - appears in comic stories in "2000 AD". He wears face paint. No doubt those in Ireland think very highly of how their history - legendary or based on actual fact - is portrayed in this way, certainly to the wider world. Thus increasing interest in their culture. They would just laugh at you:
At how you are in Error , Bobby.
Certainly at how you know so little of Eire...!
The only clown here is you .

Wait, really? Where'd you hear that from?
...and then this reply from Kernel Shite Rider just puts the ol' tin lid on things:
A friend of mine with mostly Norwegian and Swedish roots, plus Scottish, Irish, and Welsh
>A friend of mine
So unless this... 'friend' of yours is a Professor of History who has the proof to back up what they 'claim', basically a case of 'Source: Trust Me, Bro'.

One doesn't need to be a Professor to know that you cannot spell 'Belief' without the word Lie , Bobby...!
Confused?
