Aw hell naw. Is- is this moron kidding? Please tell me he is.
Ok, as a huge Carebear fan from back in the 80's, I've got to set this bitch straight. (Warning: this is gonna be a very long Carebears-related post!)
1) The Carebears' powers are not actually "magic", they are the power of their feelings, and kindness for others. The idea is that we can all do the "Care Bear stare" by showing love and goodness towards others.
2) The bears actually FIGHT AGAINST occult forces. In their first movie, a lonely boy finds a book that houses an evil spirit, and gets convinced by the book to use it to get power. The Carebears not only fight the spirit, they also tell the boy repeatedly that that using magic is not the answer!
3) The principles of loving and showing consideration to one another, and using love instead of force or cruelty to get people to change, is far from a strictly "humanistic" idea. It's been practiced by individuals from all walks of life, of all religions, since human beings have existed.
Golly, who knew that loving one another and being nice even when persecuted were against God's teachings??? And here I was thinking that "turn the other cheek" and "love one another" were pretty darn Christian ideas.
I guess the Carebears ought to beat their ideals into kids with a 'rod' instead, or maybe just kill all the kids when they've been bad. I bet Mr phillips would prefer that. I mean, that's Jehovah's style, right??
4) In case I didn't make it clear, the bears *do not f*cking use magic* to "win". They use feelings, and actually some machines that they build (like a rainbow teleporter, and cloud cars).
Anyway, I guess every fundie can't help but eventually show his true object of worship- hatred and control. Man, this guy's post actually pissed me off a lot. I think that's when fundies really get to me the most- when they use their evil worldview to corrupt even the most sweet and innocent of things. I have never, ever encountered any other people (except maybe fundie Muslims) who are so obsessed with finding rot and evil in every beautiful aspect of life, as I have with fundie Xtians. It's quite chilling actually. I genuinely fear for these "people"'s kids.
