Myself? I don't think that abortion should be allowed in any circumstances. Yes, I know that it's not a woman's fault when she gets pregnant due to rape. Well... sorry, but life isn't perfect. There still is a child in her, and killing the baby won't make the rape not have happened. I'm sorry if the child reminds her of the horrific incident; she can put him or her up for adoption. If someone must die for the rape, it should be the rapist.
What about if the woman would die in childbirth? Again, sorry. There really isn't any greater love than to give one's life for another. If a person was stuck on a mountain and they had a child handcuffed to them, and for some reason he would die if he didn't kill the child (somehow that would set him free and allow him to get away, shut up it's just an illustration), does that make it right for him to kill the child? It wouldn't hold up in the court of law, that's for sure.

"sorry"? Don't use words you don't mean.
You can't be sorry, since you are incapable of empathy with another human.
There really isn't any greater love than to give one's life for another.
Call me an asshole but I'm not dying to save someone I don't know or don't like. I might even chose to live at the cost of someone whom I do like if it came to it.
I'm sure there isn't a court that would condemn you for saving your own life at the cost of another's life, if that life directly impeded your ability to survive. They might disapprove, but they can hardly blame you for acting in "self defense".
Let me take your analogy to the next level.
If I had a loved one dying of from something and I found out that taking your life would allow them to live.
I would take you out. No contest.
As to the rest of your argument, idiots like you would even deny the victim emergency birth control, which is not the same as an abortion because there is no fetus yet.
I would not make a rape victim revisit her violation every damn day of her pregnancy just to satisfy religious morons who care more about a fetus than they do about a living, breathing, thinking human being.
Fuck you.
If life isn't perfect, why do you complain about death penalty?. Following your logic, you can't be like him. And following your logic, we should sit down and look, and don't make any research. After all, life isn't perfect, isn't it?
Myself? I don't think idiots should be allowed cancer treatments or any kind of life-saving surgery. I'm sorry, but life isn't perfect. Saving their lives doesn't guarantee they won't commit some dangerously stupid act, killing or maiming innocent, actual persons.
P.S. Your illustration is ridiculous. It's sad to think that is the best illustration you could come up with. It wouldn't hold up in debate class, that's for sure.
Dearest Eruan, as a man, you get no say. I suspect you're a rape apologist, too. Furthermore, the second situation sounds an awful lot like suicide... which, isn't that an omgz SIN? (And if you have to tell people to shut up, well, your illustration sucks a big fat cock.)
There's a child in her? Stop the presses, this is big, big news.
Why is it always some dinkwad like eruan who has the solutions for women's problems?
you are forgetting that if the mother dies in childbirth the baby will usually die as well. And if the mother dies before labour begins the embryo/fetus will almost certainly die as well, so if you can save the mother's life by aborting the developing embryo/fetus, then if you insist that a embyro/fetus is a person, only one person will die instead of two which is obviously better.
The only way you could be against abortions to save the mother's life is if you are a misogynistic asshole.
Two words: Ectopic pregnancy. Death sentence for the fetus no matter what happens. And a certain hideously painful death for the mother if it's not removed.
I'm sure that's not a problem for you, because after all, if nothing on Earth can save you, there's no greater love than to force someone else to die with you.
There really isn't any greater love than to give one's life for another.
If abortion is illegal and the mother dies in childbirth, she isn't "giving" her life out of love - she's having it taken from her by a rule imposed on her by the government.
There really isn't any greater love than to give one's life for another.
Yeah, but if they want an abortion, there obviously isn't much love there, is there?
Fuck off.
sorry? I'm pretty sure you aren't. When a female figure in your life that you care about has been raped, then you're sorry. When she has to suffer each day for 9 months because of something someone else did, then die a painful death or live a life trying to support and care for a child that was some stupid bastard's, then you're sorry. And if you have seen this happen and can talk about it so nonchalantly, then you're just a sick fuck.
<< In that case, I'll call you up when my kid needs a kidney transplant. Or a heart. Definitely not a brain, but I'll take that heart of yours. >>
#318209: Eruan can obviously spare the heart anyway. Clearly, he isn't using it.

Well... sorry, but life isn't perfect , Eruan. There really isn't any greater love than to give one's life for another. Why shouldn't a child who hasn't even begun give its life to allow someone who's already been established to continue to have a life?
What about if the woman would die in childbirth? Again, sorry. There really isn't any greater love than to give one's life for another.
'Cuz nothing says love like forcing someone to die with their fetus.
It's jerks like this that make me wish men could be pregnant too. If they had to face carrying a fetus to term, they'd likely change their minds damn quick.
I can see arguing about a fetus being a baby for the latter trimester of pregnancy, but when the first trimester has a natural failure rate of around 50%, and is no more than a clump of parasitic tissue, then I cannot see any reason to ban abortion.
Oops, my bad, 10%-50% of pregnancies end in spontaneous abortion (miscarriage). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abortion#Spontaneous_abortion
My mind stuck on the higher number, because it often happens before the woman even knows she was pregnant, so any reported numbers are below the actual rate.
Was it just me, or did every single poster on that website appear to be MALE? Interesting to have a strong opinion on forcing someone else to go through something that you will never have to go through! Can we say fucking hypocrites, boys and girls?
There isn't any greater love than to give one's life for another... but I sure don't want anyone sacrificing themselves for me or my baby, especially when that leaves me short a wife and my kid short a mother and probably dead too, anyway.
I'm going to try not to rant here, as this is quite a personal topic.
But really, in that second case, the scenario you just described is not the same as the possibility of dying during childbirth.
Well ... at least this one is CONSISTENT in his belief that the life of the unborn child should be preserved.
If he'd said that abortion should be permissible in cases of rape, but not otherwise, then that would show that he doesn't really give a damn about the life of the fetus -- he wants to punish the woman for getting laid.
ZOMG anti-abortion zealots make me want to go out, get pregnant and have an abortion just to spite them!
Well, i wouldnt actually. because i dont think i would ever get an abortion (maybe if i was raped, definately if it was the result of incest), and i could never have a child and then give it away, but i am thankful that i can make that choice for myself. A woman should have that right, and not have some middle-aged, upper-class white guy decide for her that she has no right to control her body and has to have a child.
People often forget that its not just a pregnancy, its not just a baby, its a human being and that it is a lifelong responsibilty. If a woman isnt ready for that, she just isnt, period.
thats just my two cents!
One death (Unavoidable), or two deaths(Unnecessary)?
HMM. I WONDAR WAT I SHULD CHUUS HURR HURR.
PLZ TELL MEH JAYZUZ KTHXBAI.
